Feedback on Professors of Electives
Disclaimer: The statements below are based on the opinions of students who have previously taken
these professors. There is no assurance that these professors will still conduct their classes the
same way as before.
CivLaw (Law 130)

Balane - [From Ateneo Law] madali recits because everythig he asks nasa champ reviewer;
galit pa rin siya sa babae; if you were his student in succession, mas mataas expectations nya.

Legarda - same as Uribe, but [two semesters ago], she did not fail anyone; mostly Persons
lang ang expertise nya
Land Titles and Deeds (Law 133)

Casanova - Very generous when it comes to partial points; gives generally high grades
during recitations. He is usually patient during recitations, but gets ticked off when the person called
on to recite cannot recite an important constitutional provision verbatim. He arrives an hour late (his
office is at BGC) and dismisses class an hour late as well.

Agcaoili - super ok.

Mahirap exam kahit open codal. Hindi ko natapos exam kasi sobrang haba! (First
time ko btw)
CommLaw (Law 136)

Abella - Pure lecture based on magic notes. Light for a 5-unit subjet. As if wala kang subject
na 5 units. Attendance doesn't count. Everything he says, nasa magic notes, as in verbatim. 3 exams
ang basis ng grade. 1/3 each. Basics of the laws/codes lang ang dinidiscuss. Walang cases
assigned. Minsan may babanggitinsiyang case perobilang lang yun.

Divina - No rounds for recits. Some even got called twice during the same class session
last semester. Exam was case based. One word: Matrabaho. He assigns the entire subject (ex.
corpo, nego, transpo) for you to study for next meeting's recitation/discussion so you have to gauge
until which part of the subject you'll reach. He was absent a lot of times last sem so we had a handful
of make up classes. You'll also feel as if you're ready to take the bar exam for comm afterwards.
Grade is composed of 3 components - recitation, midterms and final exams. He's a very, very good
professor.
Advance (sic) Constitutional Litigation (Law 153)

Solicitor General Hilbay RemLaw (Law 159)

Salvador - Starts the sem slowly; Every session new round of recitations so if youre unlucky,
you will get called every class; asks random questions on random codal provisions; gives a lot of
cases to read; exam is difficult because he asks topics which were not covered but mostly based on
cases; gwapo and fashown; certainly one of the best professors in UP Law; THE BEST. Wag magabsent.
so grab the opportunity to ask questions.
Calderon - His tips are useful for practice (as we learned in OLA) and he is very

knowledgeable about trial technique and whatnot, but his class is not structured and his
discussions are sometimes irrelevant to the task of preparing yourself for the bar exam. The
recits are not graded. He calls 1 to 2 students per meeting. His questions can be very
theoretical/analytical. It's a good subject to take if you want to pair it with really difficult professors.
Our class was scheduled only until 9 but we would almost always end from 9:15-9:30. The person/s
he calls for recitations will have to recite for the entire meeting.
SPIT (Law 163)

Abella - After several weeks lang mineet ung class last year, medyo busy because he
conducts bar review lectures. Mahirap finals pero mabait. Mineet pa nya ung class last year even
after the grades were released to discuss the final exam.

Mamalateo - Students are required to submit a paper; gives high grades. Holds Saturday
(harvard boy, balane level) so sabaw kayo madalas sa recits. pero his exams are the fairest - pang
bar exam level ie fundamentals lang. and there are plenty of samplex available kasi he lets you take
home the questionnaires. hel ask the class to have copies of his book,

Baniqued - Finals is difficult. Worth-taking because he covers all topics and discusses them
well. Baniqued is more comprehensive and has a really good outline. kaya lang mahirap ang
finals nya. For recits, he doesnt expect you to memorize the law verbatim, but at least have a
working knowledge of what the NIRC and the RRs state.
Labor Law Rev (Law 169)

Abad - by the book; clean table recitation; 1 case per recit; gives high grades

exams and sabi nya di siya nambabagsak; CA Justice, also teaches in Ateneo; he has a book.
Magulo magturo; random topic every meeting; easy exams, Beda [reviewer] will help; according to
him he doesn't fail students; he required us to make a research paper. He gives low recitation grades
to almost everyone. But he assigns a research paper to make up for it. His midterms and finals are
based on what is found in his labor law review book, especially the questionnaire at the back. He
assures everyone of a passing grade especially if the student is always present (remains to be seen
in our class since no grades yet have been released). he has a tendency to contradict some basic
labor law theories or what SC says. All in all, he is not that highly recommended.

Sobrevias - sir is super nice; recits every meeting, 1 case per person; may midterms and
finals; exams are based on samplex so just borrow from those who have taken him before; study the
Kasambahay Law!
CrimLaw (Law 171)

Villa Ignacio - petiks on a daily basis but does not hesitate to give a final grade of 5; has a
soft voice so seat in front; sa sobrang takot mo sa kanya parang bar-ready ka na after crim law rev
kaka-aral; for class recits, read Regalado but for exams, read Reyes; he asks carve-out situations
which only Reyes knows. The feedback last sem was spot-on, conducts regular recits and gives 5 for
wrong answers. For recits you need to read Regalado. Answers are based on Regalado. He likes a
bibo class, and might make exams easier.

Solis - Lectures lang, lahat from Reyes.
Checks attendance every meeting. For finals, yung ni discuss niya lang
ang lumalabas, and focus more on book one than on book two. chill. Lecture lang. Minsan
nagpaparecite pero bihirang bihira. Mahirap exam. Bawal maexceed allowable absences kasi nag
attendance siya. Hindi natapos Book 2.
PoliLaw (Law 172)

Cruz - magaling daw; Conducts lectures well but gives random quizzes. Finals is case
doctrine heavy. Explains topics well; uses the book of his father; conducts recitations

traydor tapos it's better din if you make yourself known to him. At batiin mo sya lagi. Matrabaho siya
sa Poli
Banking (Law 181)

Morales - alphabetical yung recit and chill. You get to recite 1-2 times sa sem. Midterms and
finals may sample sa blessings, most of it inuulit niya. Subject matter is easy to learn, probably
because you are learning it from the master.
