CAFOD HARVEST FAST DAY is Friday, 2nd October. There will be speakers at all Masses this
weekend. Your support and donations this Harvest Fast Day will enable our
partners to work with people across the world to have access to tools and
training, and empower them to become self-sufficient despite living in the
most difficult of conditions. Additionally, your donations this Fast Day will be
used to fund our partners work in Europe and the Middle East to support
those affected by the refugee crisis. Your Fast Day envelopes are attached
to the Bulletin this weekend, please return to Church next weekend by
placing the envelope in the offertory collection bags.
DECEASED Please pray for Danny Smith RIP who died recently, his Requiem Mass will be on
Monday, 28th September at 11.00am in Our Lady of Peace, followed by committal at Slough
Crematorium. Also please pray for Maria Stevens who died recently, Marias body will be
received into St Gilberts Church on Wednesday, 30th September at 6.00pm, and her Requiem
Mass will be on Thursday, 1st October at 1.00pm. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful
departed rest in peace. Amen.
MASS CHANGE There will no Mass at 9.30am on Monday, 28th September at Our Lady of
Peace, Mass will be at 11.00am and will be the Requiem Mass for Danny Smith RIP.
WE WELCOME the children from Class 6LS and 6CK from Our Lady of Peace Junior School to
our Mass on Tuesday morning.
MESSAGE FROM BISHOP PETER DOYLE Next weekend we will be showing a DVD which
Bishop Peter has asked us to show at all Masses. The objective of the message Bishop Peter
has recorded is to thank and encourage the people in our Parish and schools, and to speak
about the Synod and to say a few words about the Year of Mercy which begins in September.

PROPOSAL AMALGAMATION OF OUR LADY OF PEACE SCHOOLS The Governors of both
Schools have agreed, with the support of the Dioceses and the Local Authority, to proceed to the
Consultation Stage with regard to the proposal to amalgamate Our Lady of Peace Catholic Infant
and Nursery School and Our Lady of Peace Catholic Junior School into one Primary School for
pupils aged 3 to 11 years. As Parishioners of Our Lady of Peace we would value your views on
the proposal. A Consultation Document is available, with a Response Sheet attached on either
the School Website or alternatively please telephone the School (01628 661886 Infant & Nursery
or 01628 666715 Junior School) and ask for a copy. You can also write to the Chair of
Governors of either School, c/o Our Lady of Peace School, Derwent Drive, Slough, SL1 6HW.
Closing date is Tuesday, 29th September 2015. All correspondence will be treated in the strictest
confidence and stored at the School in accordance with our responsibilities under the Data
Protection Act 1998.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2016
If your child is in Year 3, and you wish your child to receive their First Holy
Communion in May 2016, you will need to enrol them on the First Holy Communion
programme. The First Holy Communion classes will begin in January 2016 and will
be held at St Andrews on Saturday mornings. The first enrolment date will be on
Wednesday, 14th October between 3.30pm and 5.00pm, the second date will be
Thursday, 22nd October between 7.00pm and 8.00pm. They will both be held in the
Sacristy at Our Lady of Peace Church. Parents will need to complete an
enrolment form which will be available on the enrolment date. You will also need to
bring with you a copy of the childs Baptism certificate: if you cannot find it, you will
need to contact the Parish where your child was Baptised and obtain it before the
enrolment meeting.

ALTAR SERVER TRAINING There will be training for our current altar servers, and also those
who would like to become altar servers, on Saturday, 3rd October, 3.00pm to 4.00pm, and on
5th October, 5.30pm to 6.30pm, at Our Lady of Peace Church. Please attend both
Monday,
sessions. To be an Altar Server, you need to have received your First Holy Communion.

AFRICAN PARTY at Holy Family Church Social Club on Saturday, 3rd October from 6.30pm11.00pm. Tickets 5 for adults, 2 for children. There will be music, a raffle, African and other
foods, auction sales. Tickets can be purchased on the door or from Holy Family Church.
CATHOLIC WOMENS LEAGUE on Monday, 5th October they will visit Beaconsfield Service
Station. Those who wish can take a walk around the lake and then we will have afternoon tea
there. Members should meet at Our Lady of Peace at 2.00pm if they wish to share transport.
DIOCESE OF NORTHAMPTON NORES OFFICE for Religious Education, Evangelisation,
Catechesis & Schools Friday, 9th October - 7.30pm for Education Week at the Diocesan Pastoral
and RE Centre, 33 Westbourne Road, Luton, LU4 8JD All are welcome to a Lecture on Catholic
Education 50 YEARS ON the anniversary of the Vatican II Decree on Catholic Education.
Gravissimum Educationis given by the inspirational speaker Fr Adrian Porter SJ Provincial
Delegate for Education, Director of the Jesuit Institute.
POP GOES THE CHOIR at St Andrew's, Saturday, 10th October, 7.00pm, licensed bar opens at
6.30pm. Table snacks will be provided. Tickets are being sold by C.S.C.T. Trustees, 4.00 each.
We will be holding a Raffle and Table Quiz, all monies raised will go to the upkeep of St
Andrews. Tickets can be brought from John Barry, Sheila Whitehouse, Millie Fernandez, Danny
Shaw, Brendan O'Rourke and Liz Jenkins.
CATECHISTS RETREAT DAY on Saturday, 17th October, from noon-4.00pm, at Daughters of
St Paul, Middle Green, Langley, SL3 6BS. The day will be led by Brian Purfield, teacher at the
Mount Street Jesuit Centre. Please bring a packed lunch. To book your place please contact
