4. HTELLERIE
HOTELS
The classification system that came into effect in October 2009 ranges from 1* to 5*. The 0* and 4* Luxe categories
no longer exist and a Palace distinction has been created. As at 1 January 2015, eight Parisian hotels had been
awarded this distinction: Le Meurice, Le Bristol, The Four Seasons George V, The Plaza Athne, The Royal
Monceau Raffles, The Park Hyatt Paris Vendme, the Shangri-La and the Mandarin Oriental. The classification
of a hotel given under the previous rules and regulations remained valid until 24 July 2012. Since that date, the 2009
classification system is the only one officially recognized. It is therefore the reference in the following tables.

(1) In 2012, with the exclusive use of the new hotel classification system, there is a break in the comparison. Hotels in France are gradually adopting the new system.

(1) There were breaks in the series in 2005 and 2010 as a result of a change in national hotel survey methodology used by Insee.
The results for the years after these breaks may not therefore be compared exactly with those of the years preceding these.

The data for cities compared here with Greater Paris does not always refer to the same geographic perimeters
