Introduction:
Even though Sapta Sunya Yoga Chakra is not mentioned in monumental classics like Brihat Parashari
Hora Shastra or Brihat Jataka, this is being used from time immemorial in certain parts of India such as
West Bengal in conjunction with the Vimshottari and Ashtottari dasas for fine tuning the events related
overall trend in a year.

Method of Casting:
Step I: Find the “Yoga Total” number
The method of casting of this chakra is based on three factors.
i. The vowel of the first akshara (syllable) of name
ii. The rasi number while counted from Vrishabha (Taurus)
iii. The age under consideration

Vowel of the first syllable of Name:

Different tithis (combination of 6) are assigned to each vowel. The numeral assigned to each vowel
is based on the total of the tithis assigned to the vowel. For illustration, a and ā are assigned tithis
1, 6, 11, 16, 21 and 26, sum total of which is 81. Hence 81 is assigned to a and ā. Similarly, all
other vowels are assigned different values based on the following table.

The rasi number assigned to each rasi, while counted from Taurus is given below for easy
reference.

Step II: Find the influencing number

The influencing number can be found out by dividing the ‘yoga total’ number by 14 and finding
the reminder.

Step III: Finding out the influencing sapta-sunya yoga

Look into the Sapta-sunya table and find out the sapta-sunya yoga based on the influencing
number.

Age at which a particular yoga shall fall:
It is not only important to know the yoga falling on the running year for a native, it is equally
important to find out the ages when different yogas shall fall.

Yoga total = 14 * Q (quotient) + R (remainder)

Ö Yoga total (w/o age) + Age = 14 * Q + 4
Ö Age = (14 * Q + 4) - Yoga total (w/o age)

This can be easily found using the following table.

Conclusion:
The results of the sapta sunya yoga are to be read in conjunction with the ongoing Vimshottari dasa. If
at the time of evil dasa- antardasa, bad yoga happens based on the sapta-sunya chakra, then it would
indicate severe suffering and death.
