TELL ME MORE EDUCATION WITH LINUX / NOVELL SERVER

In this case, you have to define a single Windows computer to install Tell me More Education Server
Applications.
Requirements are these ones :
- Shared directory under Novell and network paths are UNC paths.
Example : \\Name of the server \ Shared directory

Use a computer with Windows to run Server Applications Software.

During the installation, Server Applications Software for Tell me More

Education ( called Httpserver ) will be installed on the server LINUX NOVELL FROM A
WORKSTATION WITH WINDOWS .
This software will be installed near the Data Server for Tell me More Education.
So, After the complete installation, the single Windows computer will run
Server Applications Software installed on the server Novell or Linux.
SO, TO DO THE COMPLETE INSTALLATION OF TELL ME MORE EDUCATION, YOU HAVE TO
START THE INSTALLATION FROM THE WINDOWS WORKSTATION WHERE YOU WILL
RUNNING THE SERVER APPLICATIONS SOFTWARE FOR TELL ME MORE EDUCATION.
The stages of the installation are as follows :

On the server, create manually a directory for the server of TELL ME MORE Education
shared with complete access. ( Shared with the $ at the end if you dont want pupils to see
this shared directory from the neighborhood network).

From the single WINDOWS computer, run the installation of Tell me More Education to install
the server and the server applications of TELL ME MORE Education in this shared repertory,
by specifying UNC network path (Example: \\name of the server\ shared directory NOT A
LETTER G:\SERV7EDUC$ ).
Server applications will be installed on the server and will be launched starting from the single
Windows Computer.
Run the installation of each station by indicating as HTTP server , the name of the computer
chosen to install HTTP Server Application of Tell me More Eduction
( Name of the computer you see on the neighborhood network )

On next pages, you will find a detailed description of the installation of TELL ME MORE
EDUCATION.

To undestand how to install Tell me More Education, we added an example with the installation
guide :
In our example, the server Linux or Novell you can see with the neighborhood network is called
SERVERNOVUX.
Then before running the installation, we created on this server a directory we called SERV7EDUC
shared in complete access with the name SERV7EDUC$.
Also, to install HTTP SERVER APPLICATION from a WINDOWS COMPUTER, we selected a
computer : Its name in the neighborhood network is XPWORKSTATION.
You have to notice that the server and the computer where the HTTP server Applications
for Tell me More Education must be running to use Tell me More from other windows
Computer.

Step N 1 : Installation of the Server for Tell me More Education :

Run the installation of Tell me More Education, accept the license agreement and type your license
number for Tell meMore Education. Click on Next; then the following screen appears :

Click on the Next button.

Tick or not the automatic cretaion of student accounts or the mailbow activation. These parameters
could be modify later. Click on the Next button.

Select the interface language and indicate or not a password for the Administrator of the system for
Tell me More Education ( confirm the password if you typed one ). Click on the Next button.

Type the path of the directory for the installation of data server for Tell me More Education ( Your real
Novell or Linux server ) and tick or not the copy of the installation cdrom onto the server. Click on the
Install button.

The following screen appears :

The installation of the server for Tell me More Education is ended. Click on the Ok button.
The following screen appears :

You MUST click on the EXIT button to finish the installation of the server of Tell me More
Education.

Step N 2 : Installation of the Server Applications for Tell me More Education The server
Manager into a WINDOWS COMPUTER.
Run again the installation of Tell me More Education, accept the license agreement and type your
license number for Tell meMore Education. Click on Next; then the following screen appears :
Click on Install server applications ( Tell me More Server, Server Manager ) instead of Install the
server.

Click on the Next button. The following screen appears :

On this Window, you can change the installation directory. YOU HAVE TO TYPE AGAIN THE PATH
OF THE SERVER OF TELL ME MORE EDUCATION; \\SERVERNOVUX\SERV7EDUC$ in our
example. Click on the Install Button.
The following screen appears :

Click on the OK button and reboot the windows Computer. The application HTTPSERVER must be
running as a SERVICE or as an Application <-> icone in bottom on the right of the screen according to
your choice and the version of Windows.
If the operative system of the application server is Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 and you wish to install
the le HTTP server as a service, you must give the full network access to that service.
- Go into the properties of the service.
- Find the option "Open a session as".
Example: on Windows 2003, select "that account" and "AUTHORITY\Network Service"
Example: on Windows NT, select "that account" and "Administrator"

Step N 3 : Installation of the clients applications for Tell me More Education on each single
WINDOWS COMPUTER.
Run again the installation of Tell me More Education, accept the license agreement and type your
license number for Tell meMore Education. Click on Next; then the following screen appears :
Click on Install clients applications (Admin Tools, Tutor Tools, Tell Me More, Lesson Copier ) instead
of Install the server.

Click on the Next Button. The following screen appears :

In the zone Server Name, YOU MUST SIMPLY INDICATE THE NAME OF THE COMPUTER
WHERE YOU WILL RUN THE SERVER APPLICATIONS OF TELL ME MORE EDUCATION. In our
example, it is the computer XPWORKSTATION. Click on the Next button.
The following screen appears :

Select programs you want to install on the student computers at least Tell me More itself. If you tick
the installation of Tell me More, the Lesson Copier program wil be automatically installed, thats why
you cant untick it.
If necessary, change the installation directory for the installation of these programs and then click on
the button Install. The following screen appears :

Click on the OK button to finish the complete installation of tell me More Education.
(According to the version of Windows, an update of MDAC componants could be done. It is
recommended to reboot the student computer after this update.)
STEP N4 : Copy courses on the server.
Note that you could test quickly the use of Tell me More Education on a student computer : Insert a
course cdrom into the cdrom drive of the sudent computer before setting copy of courses on the server
of Tell me More Education.
