Invitation to the Selection of Sub-Committee Members of the
24th Hong Kong Union for Young Leaders (2015 2016)
On behalf of the 24th Hong Kong Union for Young Leaders (HKUYL) Executive
Committee, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude towards your unceasing
support in the Unions events in the past years. As the new academic year
commences, I am delighted to inform you that the 24th HKUYL Executive Committee is
formally in office, extending contributions of the Union towards youth and society to
its twenty-fourth year. Currently, we are recruiting Sub-Committee members of the
24th HKUYL, aiming to engage more youths in fulfilling our motto, to inspire
tomorrows leaders today.
As a member school of the Union, your school is most welcomed to nominate
Secondary 5 students (or equivalent) as candidates for the selection of SubCommittee members, in which a maximum of two non-Campers are allowed to enter
the selection. Ex-Campers who are currently attending one of the member schools
are NOT included in this quota and are eligible to apply.
The Sub-Committee is comprised of two departments: the Promotion
Department and the Publicity Department. Candidates are required to complete the
attached Application Form and the respective tasks for their department of
choice. Their performances in the tasks will be assessed, and shortlisted candidates
will be invited to attend an interview scheduled on Saturday, 10th October, 2015 and
Sunday, 11th October, 2015. Academic strength, global and social awareness,
proficiency in English, leadership skills, and creativity will be taken into consideration
in the selection process.
Enclosed please find an Application Form, a Principals Endorsement Form, an
Introduction of Departments, and a list of Tasks for Nominees of the SubCommittee. Each student candidate is required to return his/ her completed
Application Form, Principals Endorsement Form, completed tasks for the
department of choice, personal rsum, and a photocopy of his/ her school report
card of the previous academic year to the Union through mail to General Post Office
Box 10379 AND through email to info@hkuyl.org.hk latest by Wednesday, 7th
October, 2015. Late applications will not be entertained.

Introduction of Departments
Promotion Department
The Promotion Department focuses on creativity. Making designs of souvenirs,
newsletters, and webpages are some of the main features of this
department. Applicants are recommended to apply to enter this department
especially if they are interested in art design or computer technology.
Publicity Department
The Publicity Department focuses on promoting the image of the Union, and
managing contacts and links, for instance, contacting alumni, Honorary Advisors,
sponsors, schools, and the media press. Applicants are recommended to apply to
enter this department especially if they have strong communication skills and are
interested in handling public relations.

Tasks for Nominees of the Sub-Committee
Complete ONLY the tasks of the Department you opt for. Please be reminded that
you may find information regarding the Union and its projects from the Unions
webpage (www.hkuyl.org.hk).
Promotion Department
Candidate applying for a post as a Sub-Committee member of this Department must
complete Section A and 1 task of choice in Section B.
Section A:
Produce a work of art related the Unions motto, to inspire tomorrows leaders
today. Originality is emphasised. Attach a short description of your artwork with no
more than 100 words.
Section B:
1. Produce a one-minute video introducing and sharing one fun fact about
yourself. Upload the video to YouTube or other online storages and send us
the link of your video or file.
2. Produce a Newsletter page about the Global Awareness Project (GAP) or
Youth Leadership Seminar (YLS) that would be published on our website. You
may use articles in the NEWS section of our website as reference. The
Newsletter should be A4 in size and portrait in orientation. Please refrain
from using the Union Logo and appropriate language is advised.
3. Design a poster introducing Hong Kong Union for Young Leaders (HKUYL) and
including GAP and YLS in the design. Creativity is strongly advised while
profanity and copyright infringement is strictly forbidden.

Union Logo.

Publicity Department
Candidate applying for a post as a Sub-Committee member of this Department must
complete all tasks.
1. Since its establishment in 1992, HKUYL has nurtured numerous leaders
through its yearly programmes, many of which have provided guidance and
support to succeeding Committee Boards in fulfilling the Unions motto, to
inspire tomorrows leaders today. The upkeep of communication is therefore
crucial to the work of the Union. Suggest TWO ways to maintain a sustainable
network with HKUYL alumni.

2. As a non-profit organisation, the Unions income is largely dependent on
sponsorship. Without sponsors, the Unions work would not have been
successfully carried out. Suggest a potential sponsor and write a letter to it to
promote the Union's image.
