About SNA

Singapore Neuroscience Association (SNA) was founded in


1988 with an aim of furthering neuroscience in Singapore.
One of the many pursuits of SNA is to motivate students to
learn about the brain and inspire them to pursue careers in biomedical brain research. SNA organises an Annual Singapore
Brain Bee Project where selected students get an opportunity to meet and learn neuroscience from experts in the field.

Residing in Singapore
Students who have previously competed in the
International Championship are not eligible to
participate.

The International Brain Bee, established in 1998, is a live


question and answer neuroscience competition that is designed to teach students about our most powerful computing
machine: the brain. There are currently about 150 Brain Bee
coordinators worldwide that conduct competitions annually.
The winner of each nationwide Brain Bee is invited to compete in the International Brain Bee Championship as a national representative. SNA is privileged to be Singapores Brain Bee representative and
conducts the National Brain Bee Challenge in Singapore.

The 2015 International BrainBee Championship


will be held at Cairns, Australia.

Deadline: Feb 15th, 2015 No registration fee!

The Challenge
The competition aims at identifying the students depth of
knowledge in neuroscience.
Singapore Brain Bee Challenge consists of two sections, written and oral. All questions for the written section of the national competition will be taken from material in the Neuroscience: Science of the Brain& Brain Facts downloadable
online. The Written Section includes multiple choice questions (MCQs) or short answer questions that will take about
60 minutes to complete. In the Second Section, the shortlisted students will be invited for oral examination from which
the top three winners will be selected.
Use of Essential Neuroscience: 2nd Edition by Allan Siegel
and Hreday N. Sapru has been suggested for the international
competition.

1st Prize- SGD 500


2nd Prize- SGD 300
3rd Prize- SGD 200
There will be 10 Merit Awards.
In addition, the top three will be awarded a competition trophy and all participants will be awarded a Certificate of Participation.
Travel grant up to SGD 2000 will be provided
to Singapore BrainBee champion to attend
the International BrainBee Championship
