Classroom Regulations
1. The use of mobile telephones in the classroom is not permitted. They should be
switched to silent at all times and must not be answered during class.
2. Students must come to class with the necessary study materials/equipment e.g.
paper, pens, calculators, reference notes.
3. Students must attend all classes on time. Students arriving up to ten minutes late
will be recorded as late in the attendance register. Three lates constitutes one
absence for attendance calculation purposes. Students arriving more than ten
minutes after the class commencement time will not be admitted to the class and
will be marked absent for that session. They may enter and join the class after the
scheduled break. Students not returning after the scheduled break will be marked as
absent.
4. Standards of behaviour in the classroom should be such that all students can study
without disruption.
Failure to adhere to the classroom regulations may render the student subject to
disciplinary action in accordance with the College rules and regulations.

Introduction, concepts and definitions, Types of Maintenance, Aircraft Life Cycle costs,
Aircraft Direct Operating costs, Maintenance Cost philosophies and economics,
Maintenance Programs and technical documents, component Reliability and Warranty
Programs, Maintenance contracts, Production Control and overhaul shops activities work,
Power plant Maintenance activities, Maintenance Costs influencing factors, certification
requirements, Materials and Inventory Management, Stores and supply chain, Line
Maintenance operations, IT solutions and systems linked to maintenance costs
optimization, etc.
Course Objectives
The primary purpose of this course is to introduce the Engineering College students to the
basic fundamentals and principles of Aircraft Maintenance concepts and Repair
Organizations (MRO) maintenance practices and activities that support Aircraft operation
during its Life cycle. The course aims to develop students skills in identifying all
maintenance costs elements and methods of optimization. The course will add knowledge
to students on various maintenance field activities in comparison to what they have learned
purely from academic standpoint.
