SPOTLIGHT ON MARITIME SAFETY AND SECURITY
The importance of maritime safety and security has never been more relevant with the increased reliance on sea trade routes, rise
of the offshore energy industry, expanding requirements of homeland security frameworks and heightening tensions in international
waters.
Particularly in Asia, maritime security is a major challenge. Globally, there has been an economic and maritime shift to Asia, notably
region and thus increasing the need for maritime security. At the same time, tensions are rising in North East Asia, while territorial
disputes continue in the South China Sea, among several sovereign states. Regional defence budgets also continue to increase, fuelled
by economic growth. Hence, addressing international maritime security challenges has become a high priority.
IMDEX Asia 2015 is well
poised to capitalise on the burgeoning growth of the maritime defence industry in this region. Returning for its 10 th edition from
19 to 21 May 2015 at Changi Exhibition Centre, the event has gained recognition as a global platform to address critical issues
within the naval and maritime security industry, showcase the latest naval technologies and connect key players from navies,
governments and industry.

conferences - International Maritime Security Conference (IMSC) and the Asian edition of the prestigious International Naval Engineering
Conference (INEC@IMDEX Asia).

International Maritime Security Conference (IMSC 2015)

Themed Safe and Secure Seas - Strengthening Cooperation in Maritime Security, IMSC 2015 brings
together Chiefs of Navy, Directors-General of Coast Guard, government officials and key industry
players from around the world to discuss threats to maritime safety and security.
The congregation of senior service chiefs and top-level officials at this exclusive event gives
weight to the development of frameworks and solutions to deal with the security challenges that
threaten and disrupt sea lines of communication.

and cooperation, and is an important knowledge exchange platform for all participants. The 15th
edition of this exclusive conference will be hosted by the Republic of Singapore Navy in
conjunction with IMDEX Asia 2015.

One of the key highlights of the event, the ever popular Warships Display will offer visitors the rare
opportunity to get first-hand experience of the on-board operations and rub shoulders with senior
naval officers from various countries. The warships on display will be berthed at Changi Naval Base
and open to registered trade visitors on 20 and 21 May 2015.

Static Display

View the impressive array of amphibious crafts, unmanned aerial vehicles and helicopters at the Static
Display area within the exhibition hall. In 2013, the assets on display included the Zodiac's FC-470 Evol
7 Inflatable Boat, Pyser-SGI's Sea Shadow Diver Propulsion Vehicle and the Republic of Singapore
Navys Fast Interceptor Craft, ScanEagle UAV and Protector USV.

Technology Seminars & Demonstrations

One of the key attractions of IMDEX Asia 2015, the Technology Seminars & Demonstrations will be
scheduled at different time slots throughout the event. Visitors will get in-depth understanding of the
design and technological considerations behind the products and solutions on showcase and be able
to exchange ideas with the presenters face-to-face. Exhibitors interested to leverage on the
Technology Seminars & Demonstrations at the show, please contact Danny at
dannysoong@experiaevents.com.

Unmanned Aerial Systems Demonstrations

The growing interest in unmanned systems will also be reflected at IMDEX Asia 2015, with some exhibitors
indicating their interest to showcase their systems at the show. A dedicated area has been marked out at the
event where exhibitors can showcase the unique manoeuvres of their unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The

Many New Exhibitors, One Great Show
Expect to see new exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge products from small electronic cooling components and acoustic vector sensors
to large high-end propellers and shipbuilding solutions at IMDEX Asia 2015. As more new companies join our ever-expanding list of
industry-pioneering exhibitors, read more below about a few of them whom you will see for the first time in 2015.
For all your thermal management
solutions, check out Ametek
Aerospace & Defence for
refrigerant-based electronics cooling
systems, ranging from a few thousand BTU per hour capacity up
to larger more complex systems. Their new Discus
self-ventilating heat exchanger is capable of cooling sealed
electronic and optical devices without introducing contaminated
external air.

A novel maritime surveillance product

on showcase at the show will be
Microflown AVISA's Hydroflown. A
very small acoustic vector sensor that is able to directly measure
particle velocity, the Hydroflown performs with better low
frequency sensitivity while maintaining complete directionality. It
can be used to track small non-cooperative vessels at sea
through the use of both fixed wing unmanned aerial vehicle
mounted systems and floating sensor buoys.

this year to supplement its design and manufacturing processes.
Using the latest design and engineering technology, the
company produces high-end propellers and quality stern-gear

New Milpro AIR Seat takes the shocks

out of RIBs and Powerboats

The key benefit we can pass on is the major saving in fuel

achievable at speeds from 20 to 30 knots, said Reece Newbold,
head of Group Business Development. He also added that the
new vessel has made possible an actual saving in horsepower of
10% at all speeds below 25 knots and greater reductions in
horsepower over 25 knots.

Developed based on feedback from military commandos, patrol

users and created in response to the 2002 European Directive on
workers' exposure to Whole Body Vibration, the heightadjustable Milpro AIR seat features a slimmer saddle with better
ergonomic design and voluminous storage space that opens
from the top instead of the side.

The versatility of the vessel makes it suitable for use in a wide

range of scenarios including security/patrol boat duties,
emergency response, oil spill recovery, firefighting, general
work-boat duties or as a shadow vessel.

The AIR seats, as well as other products by Zodiac Milpro are

distributed in the Asia Pacific region by Pamarine, a company
specialised in marine safety solutions and a regular exhibitor at
IMDEX Asia since 2011.

The success of IMDEX Asia 2013 definitely raised the bar
for future show editions. With a record-breaking number of
72 VIP delegations from 49 countries/regions, including
21 Navy Chiefs, this is the highest number ever in
attendance!
Over 500 business meetings took place between IMDEX
Asia 2013 exhibitors and VIP delegations. With 194
participating companies from 29 countries/regions (17%
increase from the 2011 edition) and 9,337 trade visitors from
61 countries/regions (16% increase from the 2011 edition),
the event cemented its position as a truly global platform to
network and build partnerships in the Asia Pacific region.
Strong foreign participation was also reflected by the

It's been tremendous to see the chiefs of navy from

various countries around the region. It's been a really
great chance to sell our products and get our message
out there.

We have had a lot of interesting visits and we have also come

in closer to some projects. Our brand is also more
well-known after this exhibition than it was before. We have
definitely achieved our objectives. We will be here in 2015 and
have already signed up.
