Population of East Asia

Demographics are statistical data relating to the population of an area and groups
within it. Those groups could be cultures, languages, religions, you name it. So in a
nutshell, demographics are numbers about people who live in a place. Numbers can be
a bit dull, but they help you understand a place in ways you can't without them. So
they're super important.
East Asia generally includes China, Japan, South Korea, and North Korea. How many
people live in East Asia? 1.5 billion people. And no, that isn't a mistake. That really
is billion, not million. That's 38% of the population of Asia and 22% of the population of
the world. But within this number, the vast majority, 1.37 billion in all, are Chinese.
China is by far the most dominant country in the area. It is dominant in terms of
population, political power, and culture (especially in its historical influence). The
population of Japan is 127 million, the population of South Korea is 51 million, and the
population of North Korea is 26 million.
