Marquis Hall Grand Opening

On Monday, September 21 from 12:00 - 1:00 PM, UNT-I and IELI will host the official grand opening of the newly
renovated Marquis Hall. There will be free food, fun, and games! Plus, the president of UNT, Dr. Smatresk will be
visiting us! Dont miss out on this incredible celebration!

Academic Expo
Students, are you interested in going to UNT? Then come check out the information that the UNT colleges have to offer!
Meet representatives, learn about their degree programs, get free giveaways, learn how to apply, and more! The event
takes place on Tuesday, September 22 from 12:00 2:00 pm in MARQ 215.

IELI International Potluck


Join IELI in a celebration of international cuisine on Wednesday, September 23 from 12:00-1:00 PM in
MARQ 215. Bring your favorite international dish or come and speak with other students about
traditional cooking. Students who do not bring a dish must pay $5 to eat. Students will also be able to
vote on their favorite dish! If you would like to bring a dish or recipe, please let the Student Services
Office know in MARQ 202.

Time Management Lunch & Learn


This Friday, September 25 from 12:00-1:00 PM in MARQ 327, come learn from UNT representatives how to organize
and make the most of your time while here at IELI and UNT. This is a very important tool that will help you reduce stress
and become more successful in our academic and professional career. Sign up in MARQ 202 today!

PRE-REGISTRATION
ALL current students (including level 6 students planning to graduate) must complete the online pre-registration for the
Fall II term. Students must pre-register online at my.unt.edu during Week 6: Monday, September 28, 8:00 AM - Friday,
October 2, 5:00 PM.
If you need help registering online, you can visit the IELI Lab in MARQ 338 for help or see the tutorial on My
IELI (Blackboard) in the How To for IELI students folder. If your plans change after you register, you must go to the
IELI Main Office (MARQ 145) to update your pre-registration form.
Level 6 students who fail will automatically be registered for next term and tuition must be paid by Friday, October 16.
*Fall II term dates are October 19 December 11, 2015

TOEFL Test
The TOEFL will be given on Friday, September 25 from
8:30 AM-12:30 PM. The following levels may sign up
in the IELI Main Office (MARQ 145) during these
times:
Levels 6/6: September 1425
Cost: Free
Levels 5/5, 5/6: September 2125
Cost: $32.00

Ladies Group
Ladies, are you interested in an opportunity to meet
American women, practice your English, build
friendships, and share experiences? Then the IELI
Ladies Group is for you! Dont miss this great
opportunity!
The group will meet outside the Marquis Hall east
entrance NEXT Monday, September 28 at 5:15 and
go to a volunteers house! The meeting will last from
5:30-7:00 PM. Snacks will be provided,
transportation can be provided, and children are
welcome.

Coffee & Culture Discussion Group


IELI students, would you like to practice your English more outside of class? Coffee & Culture
gives you an opportunity to practice your English skills with American students. There will be
Arabic coffee and snacks, and well talk about a variety of subjects including: politics, holidays,
entertainment, music, movies, and more!
This is a good way to make new friends, have fun, and practice your English. You do not need to
sign up. Coffee & Culture will be every Thursday, 5:006:00 PM in MARQ 215.

UNT Events
UNT Carnaval
On Thursday, September 24 from 11:001:00 PM, UNT will be hosting its version of a South American tradition, the
Carnaval. Bring your UNT student ID to get free food and join in on all the fun!

Make a Difference Day: Join IELIs Volunteer Team!


Join IELIs volunteer team for UNTs annual Make a Difference Day! IELI will be completing a
volunteer project on Saturday, October 24. Students will receive lunch and a t-shirt for participating
and IELI faculty and staff are also encouraged to join! Sign up by Friday, September 25 in MARQ 202!

Word of Mouth
Word of Mouth is a weekly conversation group for international students that is hosted by the
UNT Writing Lab. You can speak with native English speakers to improve
Spoken fluency
Cultural awareness
Social interaction
All meetings are on Fridays from 12:001:00 PM in Sage Hall 231. The next meeting will be this
