When used for growing plants in Flora Gel will also absorb liquid fertilizer, nutrients & plant food as well as water. Your plants will draw from these nutrients as they need it. Will Flora Gel stain or smell? Flora Gel hydrated in clean water has no smell or taste and will not stain. Fully hydrated, Flora Gel is 99% water Flora Gel will start to smell if gels are not been looked after & kept clean. Flora Gel that has been coloured with food colouring or coated with oils may smell. What if my child or dog eats it? No harm should occur if swallowed in gel form by humans or animals. The stomach will break down the gels & crystals & then pass through the bowel. Flora Gel is safe to handle, non toxic & biodegradable.

Please estimate the amount of hydrated Flora Gel you need. Transfer this amount to the table below to calculate how much you need. Allow 12 - 24hrs for hydration. Add any scented oils or food colouring to Flora Gel. 1kg of Flora Gel polymer can hydrate to 100 litres of Flora Gel gel! 10grams = 2 teaspoons. 1litre = 0.26 gallons. When used for centrepieces & displays Hydrated gels may get dusty & start to shrink. Wash them under running water in a colander or sieve & allow to stand in water to rehydrate them. Drain any excess water off & reuse gels. Please refer to How To Use Flora Gel on page 4 for more information about the various uses for Flora Gel. How do I store Flora Gel? Storage recommended for dry crystals & hydrated gels is in an air tight container. How do I get coloured Flora Gel? Few drops of food colouring can be added to the water and the crystal will absorb the coloured water. You will get a much deeper and stronger colour in your gels by using this method. Few drops of food colouring can be added to the hydrated gels to coat gels in colour. Using this method you will get a lighter & softer coloured gel. How long will Flora Gel last for? Flora gel is UV sensitive so in direct sunlight its life span is reduced. Using Flora Gel in vases and glassware for cut flowers, floating candles & oil burners. Flora Gel can last between 2 -8 months, maybe longer if kept clean & looked after. Once you have finished with Flora Gel, dispose it into any garden, Flora Gel can continue to work as a water saver for several years. How do I dispose of unwanted gels? Flora Gel does not bio accumulate & should never be dumped into a land fill when finished with. Disposal is made easy by digging unwanted gels into any garden or pot plant soil. How To Use Flora Gel.


How To Make Flora Gel When hydrating gels, use distilled or rain water for extra large gels. Add 2 teaspoons of flora gel crystals to 1 litre of water. Allow to fully hydrate for 12 - 24hrs. This makes approximately 1litre of Flora Gel. Work out how much is needed by using the Flora Gel Polymer Calculator on page 7. How To Colour: Method 1 Add 2 teaspoons of Flora Gel crystals to 1litre of water. Add a few drops of food colouring to the water. Allow to fully hydrate for 12 - 24hrs. Drain any excess water & rinse gels. Using this method of colouring results in much darker and stronger coloured gels. How To Colour: Method 2 Add 2 teaspoons of Flora Gel crystals to 1litre of water. Allow to fully hydrate for 12 - 24hrs. Drain any excess water off. Add a few drops of food colouring to the hydrated gels & allow colouring to coat the gels. Using this method of colouring results in softer & lighter coloured gels. How To Use in Vases for Floral Displays Hydrate Flora Gel as per instructions. Fill vase or glassware 3/4 with gels & simply arrange flowers to your liking. If needed more gels can be added to vase once flowers are arranged. Flowers will stand perfectly in gels. How To Use in Bowls for Centrepieces or Floating Candles Fill a clean bowl or any glassware with hydrated gels. Arrange floating candles or led lights in the gels and light. Flowers can be also arranged around candles for a little something different. How To Layer Different Coloured Gels Different colours can be layer as desired. Make up coloured gels as per instructions Lay required amount in the base of any vase or glassware. Add other layers as desired. Keep darker colours at the bottom & lighter colours at the top. All colours will eventually blend into one. How To Make Smelly Jelly Flora Gel will absorb most liquids but will not absorb oil. If you would like to make your own smelly jelly it is best to coat already hydrated gels with a few drops of your favourite smelly oils.

How To Use For Transporting Fresh Flowers Hydrate Flora Gel as per instructions. Flora Gel can be used loose or inserted into sealed pouches. Flora Gel can be frozen and removed from freezer when ready to use. Flora Gel will not leak after thawing and can be reused. How To Use in Oil Burners Hydrate gels as per instructions. Gels may be coloured or clear. Add a Flora Gel to any oil burner. Add a few drops of your favorite smelly oils & allow gels to be coated. As gels heat up the water is released & gels start to shrink in size. Add more water to the gels to rehydrate & to reuse. How To Look After Flora Gel Gels that are used for fresh flowers will develop a smell. Gels will need to be rinsed regularly to keep bacteria from growing & clean any dirt, dust & contaminants off gels. Gels will need to be rehydrated when they start to shrink from evaporation. No more use for Flora Gel, bury in the garden or pot plant as a water retainer! For more information refer to the Flora Gel FAQ on page 6. How To Use in Growing Plants: Remove plant from soil. Thoroughly rinse roots off all soil. Hydrate Flora Gel as per instructions. Fertilizer & plant food can be added when hydrating gels for growing plants in them. Half fill vase or glassware with gel and arrange plants roots in the gels. Hold plant in place and fill vase with remaining gels. Plants will tap into the gels and use water as required. Flora Gel will need to be watered when the gels start to shrink. How To Use in Hot Packs Hydrate Flora Gel as per instructions. Insert hydrated gels into a plastic bag. Heat up in microwave. Place or wrap hot gels into a cloth & use as a hot pack. How To Use in Cold Packs Hydrate Flora Gel as per instructions. Insert hydrated gels into a plastic bag. Place into freezer until needed. Remove from freezer & place or wrap frozen bag of gels in a cloth & use as cold pack.
