Church activities will continue as normal although there will be limited parking. Parish parking will also be available off Fairy Street via the laneway next to Darrian Office Supplies. A temporary office is currently located at the western end of the car park. We ask for your patience and understanding during the process as there will be some inconvenience. The new Stewardship Program has now begun. Our weekly tallies will now be printed monthly to account for parishioners who have pledged by Direct Debit or Credit Card. Organ Spectacular: 26th September, 7.30pm Music for all Ages Martin Setchell, international pipe organist based in Christchurch NZ, will ply his skills on our historic Pipe Organ. Martin has delighted audiences the world over with his spirited playing, lively personality and entertaining repertoire. Money raised is for St Joseph's Junior Pipe Organ Scholarship. The aim in establishing the Junior Scholarship is to provide pipe organists into the future so that our pipe organ will continue to contribute to our liturgies. Tickets $20.00/Con $15.00 (supper included) are available from the Parish Office or at the door. All welcome (see board for more information). Online Diocesan Training: Thank you for your response to Bishop Paul Birds correspondence in regards to completing the online training course to be distributed by the Diocesan Professional Standards office. The training aims to ensure that all those who work with children and persons in positions of responsibility in our parishes have read and understand the documents. The Ballarat Clergy Support Fund: The collection has raised $1,481.00 to date. The Ballarat Clergy support Fund relies on your generosity to enable it to continue supporting our sick and retired priests. You are still able to contribute, by using the special envelope provided, or in an envelope marked Ballarat Clergy Support Fund. Laudato Si: This is the second encyclical of Pope Francis - the subtitle Care for our Common Home. In the encyclical Pope Francis laments environmental degradation and global warming and calls all people of the world to take swift and unified global action. The encyclical has been printed in hard copy and a number of copies are available from the Parish Office at $10 each. Liturgy of Lament & Hope: A liturgy will be held at St Patricks Cathedral, Ballarat, at 2.00pm, Sunday November 1st. This is being arranged in the context of the hearings of the Royal Commission relating to child abuse. The liturgy will offer people an occasion to lament the wrongs that have occurred in our Church, to ask forgiveness, and to pray for healing for all involved. A cuppa will follow. Social Justice Sunday: Next Sunday 27th September. For those whove come across the seas. Justice for refugees and asylum seekers. The Australian Catholic Bishops Conference have released a statement which will be available next weekend. Prayers: Jim McCarthy has asked for prayers for two of Don Bosco Salesian priests who were recently killed in a car accident (Bangalore, India).
