Abstract: The use of implicit measures has rapidly grown in Psychology. One reason for this is the ability to
measure attitudes and related constructs without deliberate bias, such as social desirability. Nevertheless,
little is still known about it in Brazil. This article aims to introduce some implicit measurement techniques,
indicating their contributions. In this sense, we consider first the main concepts and history of their
use, focusing on techniques of priming and implicit association. Later, we discuss the correlations
between explicit and implicit measures and their ability to predict behavior. Then, critics are listed on
the measurement, the reliability and the use of implicit techniques, with the arguments in their favor by
those who use them. Finally, it emphasizes the growth of these techniques and the current state of the
art matching, highlighting their contributions to research in this area.
