Health Matters
Help For Heartburn By Tresa Erickson
Spicy and fried foods are known for causing heartburn. Specific foods that
may pose a problem for you include:
Along with watching the foods you eat, you need to make some changes
in your consumption of them. Eat slowly and eat less. The quicker you eat,

Big Rapids’ Premier Depression is often a good thing.

Assisted Living It tells us that something is wrong.
For those of us that have suffered with depression, this statement may seem a little cruel.
Community There are many different kinds of depression. I used to have bouts of cyclic depression that would
last three or four days. Many have seasonal depression. Then there is reactive depression and finally

The task of keeping our moods stable and on the happy side is a complicated one.

evergreen@leisure-living.com be made and consequently this depletion causes us to have the feelings that we call depression.
Feeling this, is like seeing the red warning light show up on the dash of your car. Its purpose is to
tell you something is wrong. In my case there were certain thoughts and thinking patterns that I had
learned in childhood that needed to be updated.
In seasonal depression, these feelings mean you need more sunshine.
Melatonin is a chemical that must have full spectrum natural light to be made
by the brain. Fluorescent lights contribute to the problem.
Endogenous depression is usually caused by a deficiency in our nutrition.
Reactive depression is part of grief and loss.
Remember, the feeling of depression is a warning. Instead of just taking a
medication to raise the neurotransmitter levels, it is better to look for the
cause. Fixing the cause will permanently remove those feelings of depression.
Sunshine, full spectrum lighting, hypnotherapy, good nutrition, homeopathic
remedies for unresolved grief, and supplements to naturally restore the
balance the neurotransmitters will solve this problem.
