PRESSURIZATION CONTROL
INTRODUCTION
The pressurization control system keeps minimum cabin altitudes,
with minimum rates of cabin altitude change during transitions, with
minimum crew work load.
DESCRIPTION
The pressurization control system controls cabin pressure adjusting
the cabin air exhaust rate.
The figure PRESSURIZATION CONTROL - SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM
shows the system architecture.

The Cabin Pressure Control System (CPCS) controls cabin altitude,


cabin rate of change and cabin differential pressure during all flight
phases.
PRESSURIZATION INDICATION AND WARNING (21-32)

The pressurization indication and warning system shows cabin


altitude, differential pressure, rate of change and failure indication on
the EICAS display. It also sends the 10,000 ft signal to the aural
warning unit.
OPERATION
The Cabin Pressure Control System (CPCS) adjusts the cabin air
exhaust to control cabin pressure. It can operate in two modes:
automatic or manual mode. In the automatic mode, a digital controller
operates the outflow valves. In the manual mode, a manual controller
operates the pneumatic outflow valve.
The pressurization indication and warning system has a Cabin Pressure Acquisition Module (CPAM) which sends signals to the EICAS.
These signals are:
Cabin altitude.
Cabin differential pressure.
Cabin rate of change.
The CPAM also sends a signal to the aural warning unit if the cabin
altitude increases to 10,000 ft. This is for the cabin altitude aural
warning.
