II. Coursework Objectives:


On successful completion of this assignment, students will be able to:

on 1 unit of an English Language Primary School textbook.
Prepare a complete teaching and learning package together with a lesson plan.

Design a check-list to evaluate the teaching and learning materials prepared.

III. Coursework Project (100%)


This project consists of Five parts. Part 1. In a group read relevant articles and do a graphic
organiser.Part 2 requires you to analyse one unit of a textbook and
make necessary
adaptations , design and create effective and appropriate resources for a 60-minute lesson.
Part 3 is the preparation of a complete teaching and learning package which includes clear
introduction, explanation and rationale of the materials designed in a lesson together with a
complete 60-minute lesson plan . Part 4 is where you carry out your lesson using the teaching
and learning package you prepared. Part 5 involves you designing a checklist to evaluate the
teaching and learning materials prepared.

1. Mind-map : Group work (10%)


Read and select THREE articles from a variety of credible sources on principles of
materials selection and adaptation. Use your computer skills to present the information
in the form of short notes using suitable graphic organiser(s).
2. Teaching and learning materials: Individual (30%)
Analyse one unit of a Primary Malaysian English Language Textbook and based on
your analysis you must create and design your own ICT teaching resource and
complement it with other conventional resources to teach a 60-minute lesson based
on that unit more effectively. Other conventional resources are for example flash
cards, composite pictures, worksheets etc., that would be relevant to the KSSR
teaching themes. These resources must also be linked to each other in terms of the
topic chosen and fit in well with the lesson you have planned. The ICT resource must
focus on one main language skill. Marks will be awarded for originality, creativity,
appropriateness and effectiveness of the resources produced.
3. Teaching and learning package: Individual (20%)
Individually prepare and compile a complete teaching-learning package complete
with a mimimum of one ICT and one conventional resource/ resources.The complete
teaching-learning package should include the following:
i.
Introduction, explanation and rationale of the teaching-learning package
with clear justification of all the materials designed.
ii.
One detailed lesson plan for a primary class that is relevant to the KSSR
teaching theme that you will teach during your practicum. The lesson plan
must focus on any of the four skills or it can also be a lesson for LGA.
iii.
The duration for the lesson is an hour.
iv.
A soft copy in the form of a CD / DVD of the ICT resources, lesson plan and
other resources used. The hard copies of all the resources used must also
be submitted neatly.
4. Implementation of lesson: Individual (20%)
Carry out the lesson using the teaching and learning package during teaching practice
for your lecturer to evaluate. Ensure that you provide an envelope for the lecturer who
will then enclose the PR 1 form in it. Make sure the lesson plan (typed written)
together with all the relevant teaching materials and the CD/DVD are also enclosed
before the lecturer seals the envelope. This lesson plan must also be written into your
record book. The lecturer will then hand the sealed envelope to your course
coordinator. Please neatly type your personal details and the name of your course
coordinator outside the said envelope.
5. Check-list: Groupwork (20%)
