St. Austin Summer Mass Times
Fr. Jim is all alone at St. Austin’s this summer! To ease his
schedule, they’ve modified their summer schedule effective
immediately until August 15th:
Weekday Masses :
Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 8 am and 5:20 pm
Sunday Masses:
Saturday, 5 pm; Sunday, 7:30 am, 9 am, 11:30 am
Newly ordained Fr. Steve Bell, CSP will be arriving at St.
Austin’s near the end of July.
Where is Father Dave?
I am off to minister to travelers on the high seas. As a
member of the Apostleship of the Seas, I will serve as the
chaplain on Celebrity's Summit Cruise Ship, departing Venice
on July 10 and arriving in Barcelona on July 23. Being a
pastor to 2000 passengers and 1000 crew is an arduous
undertaking, so please keep me in your prayers as I enjoy
some vacation time before I begin my new assignment on
August 1 as Director of Vocations for the Paulists. I will see
you all at my last Sunday Mass at the UCC on July 27.

The Paulists announced that Father Ed
Nowak, CSP (pronounced 'Novak")
will take the helm of the UCC effective
August 1, 2008. Father Nowak is
currently serving the Paulists as
Director of Vocations, a position he has
held for six years.
Dat Tran, CSP, a Paulist seminiarian, who
will be serving his pastoral year at St. Austin’s.
While Dat will spend most of his time at St.
Austin’s, he will be a common face at the
UCC. God willing, Dat will be ordained a
Paulist priest in 2011.
Compass Bible Study During the Summer!
Meeting on Tuesday nights from 7-8 pm in the St.
Francis Room during the Summer, Compass is a
fun and laid-back way to read scripture and get a little more
out of Mass. Every week we spend an hour discussing the
next Sunday’s readings and sharing our faith. We are student
run, student led, and totally low time commitment, so drop by
whenever you can. Come hang out with us this Tuesday!
Father Dave’s Summer Movie Pick
Earning near universal praise, Walt Disney Pictures
and Pixar Animated Studios have joined together to
create Wall-E. What a wonderful movie for the
whole family! Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune says,
“It's remarkable to see any film, in any genre, blend honest
sentiment with genuine wit and a visual landscape unlike any
other.” Go see what might well end up being the best movie
of the summer. Metacritic.com gives this one an astronomical
score of 93.
