GRADING POLICIES:

20 percent = improvement
30 percent = perfect lines
20 percent = technique
20 percent = speed (2 supplemental timings per week, for a total of 8)
10 percent = schedule check
GRADING SCALE:

95 - 100 = A
92 - 94 = A-
90 - 91 = B+
85 - 89 = B
82 - 84 = B-
80 - 81 = C+
75 - 79 = C
72 - 74 = C-
70 - 71 = D+
65 - 69 = D
62 - 64 = D-
Below 62 - = F

EXPECTATIONS:

• Attendance is not mandatory, but to be successful in class, I highly recommend that you attend each
class session. You will receive a tentative class schedule. If you are absent, it is your responsibility
to obtain assignment/testing information from another class member or me.
• Complete tests in class during the schedule time.

GRADING SCALE FOR IMPROVEMENT:

6+ = 100 Percent
5 = 95 Percent
4 = 85 Percent
3 = 75 Percent
2 = 65 Percent
Below 2 = 60 Percent

PERFECT LINES:

The software will assign drill lines as a result of your time writes taken in class. Perfect lines are generated
from these individualized drill lines. This portion of your grade will be based on the number of perfect lines
completed--with 800 lines being the maximum number of lines. To determine this portion of your grade,
divide the number of perfect lines you have completed by 800 (for example, if you completed 720 lines, your
completion rate would be 720 divided 800 = 90 percent). If you average 50 perfect lines on each drill practice
day, you will meet the 800-line goal.

TECHNIQUE:

You will be graded on the typing technique you demonstrate throughout the class. Your technique will be
observed by your instructor three different times on randomly selected occasions. In order to receive a grade
for that observation, you must be in class. If you are absent on an observation day, you will receive “0” for
that portion of your grade.
SPEED (NWAM):

The speed grade will be determined on the best three supplementary five-minute timings taken in class. Only
five-minute timings that are taken during the class period will be counted for this portion of your grade. The
assigned timing for the day will be listed on the white board at the beginning of every class—you should take
two timings per week. You must complete at least 8 five-minute supplementary timings in class, or your
speed grade will be deducted 2% for each timing not completed. The following grade scales are used
based on your keyboarding class level.

SPEED GRADING SCALE:

NWAM (Net Speed)

You must complete all 4 cycles by the end of the 5-week course. One letter grade will be deducted from your
final grade for each incomplete cycle.
