Dear Friends*

"Hitherto hath the Lord helped us" 1 Sam.7:12.

Another year
into

of the service for the Lord went

eternity, but

we

thank God for all vic-

tories achieved in 1965.

We thank also all of our faithful contributors

Jr

who gave over $30,000.00 toward our ministry in

the past year. Your money was spent as follows*

1. Work in Poland directly: support of 16 preachers, Bibles, medicine and help in

repairing
church buildings - $12,192.00.
2. Assistance with the new work in Colts Neck, N. J,, English speak

ing congregation in Baltimore,Md. & Slavic Church in Baltimore-$2,757.00.

3. Postage for sending parcels of used clothing to Poland -$1,517.00.
4. Stamps and postage for Bibles and Polish Christian magazine-$460.00.
5. Paper and printing of the 20 pages monthly Polish magazine -$1,190.00.
6. Radio equipment and radio ministry in Baltimore & Monte Carlo-4005.00.
7. Living link and housing for Bajko family and A. Korenczuk -$11,365.00.
8. Scholarship and George Bajenskl travel and car money - $1,000.00.
All your money was invested in a great cause of building the Church of
Christ and supporting this cause made you a missionary too.

According to the letters from our ministers - missionaries in Poland ma

ny souls have been won to Christ in 1965. Our Christian literature and
Bibles opened the eyes of many people to the truth as revealed in the
Scriptures. Packages of used clothing brought the tears of joy & than
kfulness in the eyes of needy Christians in Poland and manifested Chri-

2 -

stlan love to those who di^ not know Jesus and It opened their hearts for
the Gospel* Radio ministry opened the door for our preachers in Poland in
to many new areas to preach the Gospel and win souls for Christ. Our cor
respondence with radio listeners & readers of our literature brought tho

se

people

in touch with our preachers and some souls obeyed the Gospel.

Work in Baltimore is growiijig - Bro. Adam Korenczuk preaches, visits peop

le, does work among young people, preaches every Lord's Day on radio.
Work in Colts Neck where Bro. Weldon Robertson preaches grows & attendan
ce is around 30 people. Bill Palmer, student of E.C.C. followed
Bro.
Bryans in Baltimore preaching among English speaking people & is doing a
nice work. As the result of the Bible Story Hour led by Dorothy Daw & E.
Siwak one girl was baptized recently.
Myself and my wife work fbr the Lord constantly. I led 4 successful Faith
Promise Rallies, one revival meeting, took part in 12 missionary rallies,
preached & taught in 5 Service Camps, preached every Lord's Day and many
week-ends in many churches & witnessed as the result of this ministry ma
ny souls responding to the Gospel invitation & many dedicating their li
ves fot specilized service.
I'Jhile I am away Dela, my wife, usually types my radio messages, prepares
Polish magazine, answers hundreds of letters, packes used clothing etc.
We thank God for such great opportunity to work together with you in His
Kingdom. We trust that you will be partakers of this ministry in 1966 al

so, and many others will j<|>in us in this work.

All contributions please S(ind in the name of DEPARTMENT OF MISSIONS with
the note to which phase of work it is designated.

the house.
Mr. D. said he wasn't sure he should send his children to the

but
in the end he sent them anyway. Carolyn & I took the D. kids

home.

First we went

to tti e grocery store & bought them some soup & era-

for them.

VJhen I was in their home, I was a little shocked at how bad the

conditions really were. With 5 people in the family, they had only 3 bowls,
1 glass,a couple of forks, knives, 2 spoons & a few cups... I wonder what
will ever become of those children? But those children like to hear the Bi

WORD FROM KOSTEK JAKONIUK 6e GEORGE BAJENSKI

Kostek Jakoniuk returned to Poland in August 1964 & George Bajenski retur

ned in October,1965. Both came to this country in 1959 under complete spo
nsorship of the Department of Missions and we are proud of their work in
Poland.

"Dear Bro. Bajko, dear Brethren in Christ:

The Christmas season does more than any other time bring back the good me
mories of the wonderful fellowship I had with you while being there.Altho
ugh it was some time ago but it stands clear in my memory. As I think of
you, I can't think without being grateful for all the good you have done
for me in Christian love. May God richly reward you.
Now we stay at the door of the New Year 6c as I look back I can say that it
was a good year in the Lord's work. We had many happy moments which lifted
up our hearts & strengthened our faith in His promisses. The past year was
filled with the evangelistic tours, youth gatherings, baptisms. The last
of those was an evangelistic week in Warsaw where each evening were two
messages given. George led the singing...

Each Sunday in October we

had

thanksgiving services in different congregations of our area with spe

cial programs. In all of that we could see Lord's blessings & His help
Our congregations are small & each of such events was a great spiritual
help & refreshment- Please accept the Christian greetings from me, my pa
rents & many Christians here & also please remember us in your prayers.
In Christ, Kostek Jakoniuk."

"This time from across the sea, I.send you greetings & wishes for a Joyous
Christmas season & Happy New Year*

It is good

to be back here & to share

this glorious message of the New Bom King, The Lord of Lord's & Mighty
God with these people who know Him not. Remember us in your prayers becau
se it is

one thing that we need most right now.

Since you have been here

write

new problems & difficulties have developed in the work here. I will

you in the future about it. We pray constantly about your work.

Yours,

Dear Friends?

"3

m

I am a little late with our news, but it seems

that every day we have less time, because the-

re is so much to do.
In addition to my few long distance trips which
I made with the message of mission I can

Jb

not

catch up with my correspondence especially with

the correspondence from Poland, Czechoslovakia

and other countries from our Radio

listeners.

Every letter we receive is touching our hearts

deeply because people thank for the Word of God
which they hear through radio and ask for Bibles and Christian litera

ture. Every week I sent out by registered mail quite a few packages with
the Spiritual Food.
Another kind of very encouraging letters are the letters from our prea

chers in Poland whom we help materially, morally and spiritually. They

write about many victories for the Lord in winning souls, establishing
new congregations and also returning to the New Testament position
in
observance of the Lord's Supper. Our trip to Poland in 1960 and
1963
brought already great improvements in the work in Poland and it conti
nues to improve.

We received letters from every preacher in Poland and many members

of
the congregations and even from non-Christians begging us to come to Po
land this year, but it is impossible for us to go there this year, al
though many Christians in this country are willing to help us in
such

undertaking. W^'^verwhelmed with the work - Radio ministry is consuming

2 -

lots of time - we have to prepare all messages, songs, to tape all pro

grams and send them to the ][ladio station in Monte Carlo.

Next job consuming lots of time also is publication of Christian lite
rature and shipping it to Pi>land and other countries - so, we have
to
disappoint our brethren thei^e this year, but may-be Lord will send
us
help soon then we will be more free to go there.
But this year brings a wonderful opportunity to anyone to visit

and everybody will be welcon|ed there with great joy and you can

Poland

bring

great inspiration to the beljievers there. Poland is observing this year

"Millenium" - 1000 years of introduction "Official Christianity". There

will be big celebrations by |the whole nation and our Brethren would li

ke to redeem the time for preaching the true Christianity. If some

of

our readers would like to goj this year, please write to me immediately
for more information.

We receive also many wondetfiil reports about the ministry of Kostek Jakoniuk and Georjs^e Baienski. 'fhese two young men are close to our hearts
because we brought both of them to this country in 1959 to study in the

Bible College. Although it w^s not easy task to support them while they

were studying, but with Lordjs help, by faith, we raised $18,000.00

which were invested in their {education. They returned to Polanj^th lifrom chuiiches in the States and Cana'da and work ve

ry effectively. George works in the Warsaw church as youth leader

and
introduced f^Tnew methods of work and also he visits other congrega
tions with the message in song and Word.

Kostek works in the Eastern pkirt of Poland in churches and among

the

youth. Just recently 2 new cpjigregations were started. Please remember

them in your prayers. They haye full freedom to preach in Poland.

Immediately after Easter we will start to prepare and send to Poland a-

nother big shipment of used c^thing . We received lots of clothing al

ready and we thank all givers^ We will need over $500.00 for this ship
ment. We pray that you, our fitiends, will remember this ministry in

this wonderful season of Easter and share your blessings with the needy

Christians in Poland.

All contributions please send in the name of the DEPARTMENT OF MISSIONS

with the note to which phase df work it is designated.

Yours in the ministry for Christ,

SLAVIC CHURCH OF CHRIST

The 1966 year has brought us changes and additions in the program of
the Church. We have elected a nexT Superintendent of our Church School,
Larry Bondar, who placed his membership with our congregation in June,
1965. Larry has been leading our orchestra in which we have 11 persons
participating and is teaching one of our Sunday-School classes. He is

very well qualified to lead in the educational department of our Church

program.

My work continues with the Slavic People. I make regular visits to the
Nursing Homes for the benefit of the disabled elderly ones who cannot
be in worship services. I visit the homes also taking the message of
Christ. Our services continue on Saturday, prayer meeting, and Sunday,
worship service. Friday night we have special youth meeting in diffe
rent homes.

We thank the Lord that we were able to obtain an organ, this added

much to our worship services. We have done extensive improvement and

remodeling to our building.

I continue to teach music at the Eastern Christ:^an College and direct

the Concert College choir. We are preparing foythe Spring tour

and

this takes a great deal of energy and time, bi^ I am Ijappy I have the

opportunity of service knowing that this is fyor the building of

Christ's Kingdom on this earth.

WORD FROM DELA BAJKO

I just can't believe that winter is almost over. But the happy birds
and the lovely crocusses under my window tell me it is so. And I tho
ught that in the long winter-months I will be able to do so many
things! One of the most important things that I am right now working
on is a little Chorus-Book for the children and the young people. From
the very beginning when I came to America I loved the beautiful, re
freshing choruses, that are so popular and which are not known in Po
land. So I went to work and translated quite a few of them, hoping
some day somehow to be able to publish them in a form of a little so
ng - book. It seems that this time came now. Several months ago
we
got a lovely "Musicwriter" that types notes and this is what I am do
ing right now: slowly and patiently I type one sheet of music
after

4 -

another, fill in the words Ion a regular typewriter and hope that

with

God's help the young peopld in Poland will be able to use this little
song-book already this sunnnier in their camps and during their

rallies*

"Musicwriter" does not work as fast as a regular typewriter, it is a much

slower procedure. It takes kbout two hours to write one page of music,

check it for mistakes, and type the words, and that's why I say, that
can't believe that the winter is almost gone!... With all

the other work,

like radio-programs /typingI Paul's sermons, recording special music/, our

magazine "The Guidepost", tj^ing Paul's "thank you - letters", church-and

college activities,

caring for my family and our home - with all that

was not able to finish it, before we have to start with the next most ti-

me-consuming job: preparing |clothes-shipment to Poland, which we plan to

do right after Easter.

I am so very thankful for all the many ways we can serve our Lord, so tha
nkful for all the opportunities and so thankful for all our wonderful

Christian friends who make t|iis work possible.

NEWS from the field
"Beloved in the Lord!

I just left the organ, where I played the song from your "Guidepost", w-

hich I received today* "Alon^ with God". It is a beautiful song which expresses in a wonderful way the harmony that comes from the communion
with God. I want to thank you so very much for granting my request
and

sending me all the missing nujmbers of your "Guidepost". They came

all

right and in a very short tin^e. I can't express you my gratitude. I only
think constantly how could I repay you for all that. I thank you also for
the two magazines, which I received alr^dy in this new year. February

is not over yet and I have aljready the magazine for this month!
the Lord for that!

Praise

I am so glad and so thankful that I got to know you, even if not

physi

cally, but spiritually, whichlis much more worth, I love your poem, sis
ter Dela, especially the last stanzas "... And no power can take away my

happiness^..." I love the arti^clet "My heart - Christ's home". How hard
it is sometimes to give the kdys to Jesus, that He may clean out those
different "closets", containing dead things!

Last year we organized among c^ur young people a "Ladies choir" which
sings mostly the songs from yojur "Guidepost". We sang already "Ere
you
left your room this moiming", "0, holy night" and now we shall practice

the one from your last issues |"Alone with God".

I send you my greetings and th^nk you for your nice family picture. W.Ch,"

September, 1966,
Dear Friends?

The Summer is almost gone, and I have not had vacation yet, because the
Lord's work is first.

During the last two & a half months I attended the N.A.C.C., preached
in 15 churches, 3 camps, held 2 week Revival meeting, and spoke at 5 Ra
llies.

During that time I preached 50 sermons, 10 missionary messages,

taught 20 class sessions, and made 20 calls. In addition to that I pre

pared 24 radio messages and made 24 programs in our studio, packed and
sent to Poland 400 new song books, 50 packages with literature, and Bi
bles,79 parcels of used clothing, and answered over 200 personal letters.
Financial and spiritual assistance was given to the brethren in Poland$3594.- were sent to Polish preachers and over $200.- worth of medicine.
Three bicycles & 1 motorcycle were purchased for Polish preachers, and
we were also able to buy a cow for a poor Christian family in Poland.
In all that work Lord gave us strength, and I was forced to cancel only
one speaking date, due to a virus. I strongly believe that I was able to
do this work because of your prayers.

We thank you very much for your prayers and financial help which enab
les us to preach and win souls for Christ directly or through preachers
in Poland, through radio ministry and publications.
We receive many letters from Poland and in almost every one,
prea
chers write about baptismal services. The several Youth Retreats
-

in Poland were also very su ccessful, and many souls responded to the Go

spel invitation. Our new sio ng Book made a great impression on everyone.

Please continue to pray anjl

support our work for the glory of God.

Yours in service for the Master,

SIA^^IC CHURCH OF CHRIST

Keeping up almost with the same pace the work has been accomplished during the summer months. We were happy to have many visitors from other
cities who shared with us t tie services and the fellowship.
I stayed home during the p kst three months, and had no chance to visit
other congregations.
I made regular visits to h cm es & to Nursing Homes where we have several
Slavic people shut in. We ha d our services as usual: prayer
meetings on Saturdays and wor ship services on Sunday, with Church School.
Our Story Hour on Saturdays ,continues to be a succes, and we are grateful to Miss Dorothy Daw, of Eastern Christian College, for her sacrificial and devoted service.Th s year several of the children of the "Story Hour" attended the Chris Lian Service Camp, through the generous contributions

Dela's dream became a reality. A year ago a musicwriter was purcha

sed in order to help us with printing of new songs. The first project
was a chorus book. For many days Dela worked on translating choruses and
short songs and was patiently typing music in preparation of the new
song book. The time was passing fast. The summer was approaching and it
was

our

prayer

that

the new song book would reach Poland before the

Youth Retreats started. As soon as copyright permits were

obtained
we rushed the masters to the printer who printed and binded the book in
a couple of days. Several single copies we sent to Poland by air mail,
praying like never before that the song books may reach their destina tion.

Letters of thanks and praise given to God by hundreds of youth & chil
dren is our reward. Youth, children, and adults enjoy singing all
the
summer new choruses. It lifted everyone up and touched the hearts
of
many. We thank God for the success of this ministry. Dela will
soon
start work on another song book.

A WORD FROM DEIA

The last package of used cl othing was packed and shipped away, and our
basement was clean and tid^i once more. The two summer issues of the Po

lish magazine were finishe|<i,all neatly packed, addressed,& ready to

be

sent away at the proper tinie.Twelve tapes with radio-broadcasts

were
prepared, supplying us with ready programs through October 1966.This was
a lot of work & an awful rush during the last weeks of the school-year,
but now everything was taken care of & I was looking forward to 21ovely
months of just working in the garden, canning, entertaining
visitors

and.... some picnicing and Iswimming - some vacation.

The day after school yas over Paul and two older children left
for the first camp in Indiana. I stayed home with our youngest, An
drew, to finish some work and a week later to join them at the North American Christian Convention. This was a wonderful treat /though
you
could not call it rest/.From the convention we went to Florida, to work

in the Flagala Christian Service Camp at Panama City. It was very hot,
but still it was a lovely eind a very interesting trip down south, for it
was the first time that we were traveling to Florida. The camp
was a
wonderful experience, too. I taught two classes each morning.
Back home I hardly had enotligh time to wash and iron everything from our
trip, for Paul was leaving for the next camps and meetings. Paul left &
I

faced a week of DVBS at our Slavic Church of Christ in Baltimore,

of

which I was the Superin tenant. It was a lovely week. In our small Sla
vic congregation we have about 15 children & young people, but the DVBS
attendance was about 60.

we

brought

the

children

straight from the

streets, dirty and barefoofed, but they were coming faithfully and were
sorry the

VBS

lasted only a week.

After the DVBS I thought I] could start "Having vacation", but

soon the

mail brought me some work;j?aul wanted me to type all the thank-you let
ters to the contributors and another 12 radio-sermons. My sister was
coming to visit us and she has a good soprano voice. Paul wanted to use

her

in

our musical program, so the sermons had to be typed, the songs

picked, prepared and practiced...

And so the summer months were slipping away. Vie had lots of company,ma
ny visitors, & with our Slavic Church it became almost a routine to co
me to our place Sunday afternoon for a picnic.
As I look back I have to say, that it was a lovely summer. We were not
lazy and we were not resting in the lazy way, but we had our
pic
nics, and I managed to have quite a few swims in camp and with
people

visiting us during the sumber. After all, the time belongs to God also,

so it is only right to giv^ back to Him at least part of that, what He

gives us, and that includes our time also.
