MIRABILIS:

a new performance by

in situ:

MIRABILIS is about a 12th Century mystic - Christina Mirabilis (‘the

Astonishing’), who suffered a near-death experience at the age of 32,
during which she visited Purgatory and witnessed the suffering of the
souls there. She came back to life in the middle of her own funeral and
then embarked upon an extraordinary set of performances, in which she
enacted the torments of the hereafter by crawling into ovens, flying up
into trees, immersing herself in freezing water, and entering the graves of
the dead.
in situ:’s performance takes place inside, outside and throughout these
wonderful churches. We combine live physical and vocal performance
with sound and video installation, plus specially-commissioned music.
Our unique performance approach, in which the audience moves freely
around the performance spaces, watching whatever aspect of the piece
they wish, makes MIRABILIS a memorable experience.

MIRABILIS has toured throughout East Anglia during Summer, 20004.
