POSTGRADUATE EQUITY & ACCESS


Murdoch aims to provide support and incentive to students from a background of disadvantage to continue their tertiary
education.
The Postgraduate Access and Equity Scholarship is a tuition fee waiver for postgraduate by coursework masters,
diploma or certificate. There will be no financial stipend. Please note that students enrolled in any Commonwealth

HECS supported postgraduate courses (such as the Graduate Diploma in Education) are not eligible to apply.

FINANCIAL STATUS

In order to demonstrate your financial status, please ATTACH one of the following:
your two most recent Notices of Assessment from the Australian Tax Office
an Income Statement from Centrelink that is no more than 3 months old
If you do not currently receive a Centrelink benefit but consider yourself to be in financial hardship please
attach a statement outlining why you are currently not eligible for a Centrelink benefit, and how you are
obtaining an income.
DECLARATION & TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully, these will be applicable if you are awarded the
scholarship:
I declare that the information I have supplied on this form is true and correct to the best of my knowledge. I
understand that if any false or misleading information is provided it could lead to the cancellation of, and repayment of,
my scholarship and that I will be subject to the provisions of the Student Discipline statute.
I understand the following terms and conditions of the Postgraduate Access and Equity Scholarship:
The Scholarship covers the cost of tuition fees only.
The Scholarship is allocated on the basis that the student:
is enrolled in a coursework postgraduate degree, diploma or certificate;
is an Australian Citizen OR has been granted Permanent Residency Status and lived in Australia
continuously for the last twelve (12) months;
had a gross income at or below $25,000 per annum for the period of two (2) years or more prior to
making this application.
All applications are ranked by the Selection Committee according to the level of hardship described in the
application form.
The University reserves the right not to award the scholarship if no applicant is considered suitable.
The award is not retrospective and commences from the semester in which the student receives the award.
The entitlement covers the standard qualification point load only (eg. 12, 24 or 48 points). Any Fails or
repeated units will not be covered by the terms of this Scholarship. Payment of these repeated units are the
responsibility of the student.
Continuation of the Scholarship is subject to progress which must satisfy the Universitys Progress Rules. Any
Academic Exclusion will result in the termination of the scholarship.
Any break in study which is not within the Universitys Academic Progress Rules may result in the Scholarship
lapsing and the student will need to re-apply.
Any suspensions, non-enrolment or other lapses in study MUST be notified in writing to the Student Financial
Support Office at the time.
Any proposal by the student to change Program enrolment MUST be notified in writing to the Student Financial
Support Office beforehand. Failure to notify may result in loss of the Scholarship.
The Scholarship is not transferable to another university.
If my application is successful, I acknowledge that as part of my acceptance of this scholarship I may be required
attend an official presentation ceremony at a time to be advised.
