Problems Observed:
Metro Park n Ride:
Careless behavior of workers during peak hours while issuing the token. Workers do not
pay attention to note the correct registration numbers of vehicles which can cause
disputes during exit.
No proper checking of token during exit. Workers do not bother to move and check the
token placed on the vehicle and do not cross check it with the issued token. During first
visit I noticed that there were almost 15-18 vehicles without token.
There were no shades either for workers or for parked vehicles are provided. No proper
sitting arrangement was there for workers
Cleanliness problem especially drainage problem is swear when it is raining water from
the adjacent road and metro bus corridor enters the parking area and causes damage to
parked vehicles and create disputes among the workers and owners of the vehicles.
No marking of Stalls. This thing is causing irregular and unordered parking arrangement.
Workers for their own convenience made people to park their vehicles close to other
vehicles and this thing causes damage to vehicles during exit.
Govt. servants and workers of metro bus authority refuse to pay and park their vehicles
on their own will and disturb the operation.

Other Sites:
Encroachment by shops and venders in front of NADRA Office Shopkeepers and their
visitors park their vehicles and do not pay.
Workers of NADRA, Banks and Sui gas Department do not cooperate with the parking
staff. They refuse to pay for the token and try to park their vehicle in shade and disturb
the parking operation.
At HBL Shahdara parking operation was disturbed for almost 3 hours from 1PM to 3PM
because of a meeting on Tuesday 11 August 2015. Workers told that this type of

meeting is held once or twice a month and bank security staff forces them to finish their
work and park all the official vehicles in the cordoned area.
Visitors of banks and both offices sometimes refuse to pay for the token, behave rudely
and tear up the tokens.

Recommendations:
Metro Park n Ride:
There should be one more worker during morning peak hour because it is difficult for
one person to handle lot. By providing one more worker problems of missing token can
be managed properly.
Drainage problem can be managed by providing drain in the parking lot.
There should be strict check and balance on supervisors and workers so that no vehicle
is left without token and registration numbers are correctly marked.
Fix and separate entrance and exit should be provided and sitting arrangement for
workers must be provided at the entrance for smooth and efficient operation.
Parking place for the workers of Metro Bus Authority must be separate because they do
not pay for the parking and park their vehicles near to the corridor or on the sidewalks
and causes irregular parking pattern in the lot which makes exit of vehicles difficult.
At least 100 marked parking stalls must be provided in the middle of the parking lot to
accommodate bikes orderly and to reduce damages to vehicles. Dimensions of parking
lot can be 5 ft in length and 2-2.5 ft in width.

Other Sites:
Parking awareness must be developed among the users to overcome revenue and
operational issues. This goal can be achieved by distributing pamphlets and brochures of
the company mentioning the reasons and importance of parking can help to change the
behavior of the users.
Parking lot in front of NADRA office if possible can be shifted across the road along the
metro corridor to reduce the interruption caused by the staff of office and shopkeepers,

or the parking area must be properly cordoned and no irrelevant vehicle is allowed to
park in the area.
At banks, NADRA and Sui gas Office parking fee must be collected at the time of parking.
Parking attendants need to make it clear to users that they have to pay for parking.
