The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
is widely recognized, both nationally and internationally, in the welding industry. Successful
companies have come to rely on this DASH certification when ensuring the highest level of
quality workmanship. Certified Associate Welding Inspector (CAWI) qualification is a first
step towards a career in welding inspection. Youll get hands-on experience as you work
alongside a Senior Certified Welding Inspector or Certified Welding Inspector.

A welding certification is technically a procedure or a welder qualification test. If you have
the skill level and follow the directions then you should produced the same results as the
procedure specifies. By comarison its no different than following a recipe. If you use the
ingredients as specified and cook by following the instructions you will get the desired
results wanted! In this case instead of making a cheese burger you are making a sound
quality welded joint.
The main difference between a welding certification and a welder qualification test is that it
is certified by an organization and it will be supervised by someone who completed the
appropriate training who has been approved by that organization to oversee that procedure.
Welding qualification tests are usually given in pre employment screenings to ensure that
the welder can weld up to the companys standards.
Welding certifications are designed to ensure the welders skills are up to the code they will
be working under. Welding certifications are also documented to prove that the welder is
qualified under that code. Welding codes vary a lot depending on the type of work being
done. There are many organizations that have different procedures depending on the type
of work they oversee.
