Located in the exquisite natural setting, Institute of Business Administration, Jahangirnagar Univ ersity (IBAJU) started its journey under the name of the Department of Business Administration in 1991. The Institute
initiated a new era by introducing the four-y ear Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program in
Bangladesh. Over the course of this long journey , IBA-JU offered both undergraduate and postgraduate
programs with the most innov ativ e and sophisticated curriculum.
IBA-JU constantly striv es to groom its graduates with contemporary business k now-how as it is equipped
with highly qualified faculties trained in some of the best business schools of the world. Furthermore, as one
of the leading tertiary business education prov iders of this country , the Institute has prov en itself as a
distinguished source of highly competent business graduates who prov ed their capabilities in the corporate
sector of the country . It has set itself in a position to ensure a balance while meeting corporate
requirements and achiev ing academic excellence. Based on this principle, IBA-JU has introduced a regular
week end MBA program for the graduates from a wide range of disciplines. In order to ensure the greater
conv enience of the prospectiv e students, the academic activ ities of this MBA program is set to be conducted
during the week ends. This program (W eek end MBA) is the first of its k ind in Bangladesh that specifically
considers the need of the indiv iduals who hav e a desire to complete a high-quality MBA without disrupting
their respectiv e professional and/or daily schedules during the week day s.

Campus Life
The charming campus of Jahangirnagar Univ ersity (JU) is situated just 30 k ilometers away from the city
center. With some of the rare beauties of the mother nature, the Univ ersity campus showcases the true
spirit of higher education. The vast green lashes and pure mind blowing scenic beauty will welcome you into
a rich academic atmosphere blended with widespread flora and fauna. As far as the transportation is
concerned, public transportation during the week ends is frequently av ailable for a conv enient and relaxed
journey to and from the Univ ersity .

Weekend MBA of IBA-JU


The Week end Master of Business Administration Program consists of 60 credit hours (20 courses 3 credit
hour each) that can be completed within two to six y ears on trimester basis. Each trimester will be of
thirteen week s of duration. Students from the related academic back ground may get waiv er of maximum 15
credit hours (5 courses). Unlik e other program offered by IBA-JU, this program is a nonresidential MBA
program.

Admission Requirements
Eligibility of a candidate:
In order to qualify as a candidate for the Week end MBA program, the applicant must satisfy the following
requirements:
All applicants must hav e at least a B achelor degree in any field of study . The minimum qualifying point is
sev en for all applicants. The point-based sy stem is presented below in the table:

Applicants who hav e tak en the O Lev el examination must hav e passed at least fiv e subjects, with a
minimum grade D in each of these subjects. Applicants who hav e tak en the A Lev el examination must
hav e passed at least two subjects, with a minimum grade of D in each of these subjects. Letter grades of
O Lev el and A Lev el subjects are conv erted to grade points (A =4, B=3, C=2, D=1). Grade Point Average
(GPA) is calculated by av eraging the grade points of the fiv e best grades of O Lev el and the two best
grades of A Lev el.

For all other certificates, equiv alence will be determined by the designated committee of the Institute.
Applicants with a score of 550 or more in GMAT (with minimum 30 percentile in verbal and 50 percentile in
quantitativ e) may be exempted from the written test. Howev er, they will be required to pass a v iv a-voce
examination.
Admission Test:
The admission test will comprise of a written test followed by a viv a-voce examination. The duration of the
written test will be 1 hour and 30 minutes. This examination aims to measure the linguistic, analy tical, and
quantitativ e sk ill of a candidate. A successful candidate must pass both tests independently . Final merit list
will be based on the scores of the written and v iv a-v oce examinations.

Program Fees
The fees of the MBA program are very competitiv e and represent excellent v alue for money . The total cost
of the program includes an admission fee, seminar library fee, computer lab fee, registration fee per
trimester and tuition fee. The cost of the program is about Tk . 1,36,000 to Tk . 1,72,000 depending on the
students prev ious academic standings. Nev ertheless, the cost structure would be adjusted time to time to
reflect the inflationary changes which is subject to the approv al of the Finance Committee (FC) and the
Syndicate of the Univ ersity .

Degree requirements:
i) The degree will be awarded after the successful completion of a maximum of 20 courses (60 credit
hours). Maximum 5 courses can be waiv ed based on the prev ious academic records of the student.
ii) Passing all of the required courses indiv idually with at least D grade and maintaining a minimum
Cumulativ e Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5.
