Describe an intellectual or academic interest that you would like to

pursue as a university student. In other words, what are you curious about?
A young soldier is capable of carrying out his daily functions as normal because
of the high-performance artificial arm he received; two drivers are able to walk away
from a violent wreck due to their cars careful and calculated designs. These lifealtering occurrences have favorable outcomes everyday as the result of modern-day
engineers allowing their own curiosities and passions to push the frontline of
technology in extraordinary ways. I desire to follow in their footsteps by pursuing
ways to create and use technology to make a positive difference in other peoples
lives. I have always been curious to uncover what my own minds potential holds in
envisioning something unique and original. I am intrigued to learn how current
technology functions, as well as the skills to invent new technologies that have yet to
be discovered. The design and creation of robotics especially fascinate me because of
robotics ability to be integrated into any industry, along with its potential to greatly
raise the standard of living for all humanity. With the variety of possibilities that
robotics holds, I see it as a rich field in which to fully express my ingenuity and
imagination. Because of these interests I have chosen to further my academic career
by seeking a degree in mechanical engineering.
Aside from my interests in engineering, the broad diversity I anticipate
encountering as a university student also fosters my curiosity for other cultures and
civilizations. From the time of my trip to the town of Juigalpa, Nicaraguawhere I had
the privilege to work with children in both a school and an orphanageI have begun
to change the focus of my goals from not just advancing my own life but to making
progress for all mankind. I have seen the boundaries formed by language and
location, but I still do not understand how it has created such a vast divide between
humans. I yearn to learn more about the reasons that separate humanity and how to
penetrate them, so that I may aid in the work of uniting mankind for the greater good.
As a Christian I observed the power that faith in God had in dissolving the cultural
lines during my time spent in the Nicaraguan churches. I wish to use the diversity at
Auburn University to also give me a better understanding of those things that divide
and those that unite people, so that I may be a more effective citizen of the world.
With my interest in engineering and compassion for humanity, I aspire to use
my education as a university student to reach my full potential for making a major,
beneficial influence in local and international community. I know that curiosity paired
with passion can produce great discovery. So one day I may use my own curiosity and
passion will lead me to invent a way to help modernize third world countries, or a way

to visit planets outside our solar system, or merely something much smaller.
Nonetheless, whatever it is that my future may bring, I am eager to uncover the
endless possibilities that can be achieved by an Auburn University trained and
educated mind.

Even from a young age, my curiosity has been mixed within the
areas of philosophical and innovative ideals. In my own ideas and
beliefs, every person has a reigning curiosity that searches to
understand two important answers in their life

to determine the

ultimate purpose for what they are living for, as well as what actions
they must do to carry out that purpose. These two answers then sit
on the top of the hierarchy that includes every other purpose and
action pair that exists in life. For example, a man who lived for the
ultimate of his family would then carry out that purpose through
actions of providing, protecting, and loving his family. Once those
two answers are concluded, they then provide the foundation from
which all other fulfilling purposes of their life are built. The action of
providing for a family then branches to the purpose of having a
successful job, and that purpose is carried out with the actions of
working hard at that job. This paradigm displays the idea that even
though a healthy balance is needed in life, there is always an ultimate
purpose paired with actions that one must posses in order to
motivate and promote an auspicious life.
I make this point in order to aid in demonstrating not only what
my curiosity encompasses, but how it is derived as well. Because of
my beliefs as a Christian, I define my purpose as living to worship and
glorify God. For me, this means carrying it out with the actions of
loving his creation and using the talents and gifts I have to create my.
I see attending Auburn University as a key point in my life that I can
use to not only expand my knowledge of others views on life, but
also to cultivate my interests in creating new things.

The human mind is full of endless possibilities.

Interested in the design of new things so that I may use

my own innovation and creativity to further the line of
