1.2CourseIntroduction
Thecourseisdesignedtointroducedecisionmakersinthemanagerialandbusinessprofessionto
modernmacroeconomictheoriesandmodels.Suchmodelsshedlightonmacroeconomicissuesthat
impingeontheperformanceofdomesticbusinessandindustrialenterprisewhichoperateina
competitiveinternationalsetting.Thelectureswillfocusonimportantcontemporarymacroeconomic
theoriesandpolicyissuesconfrontingtheAustralianandglobaleconomy.Tutorialsessionswillprovide
studentswiththeopportunitytoclarifyconceptsandtheoriesanddebateimportantmacroeconomic
policyissuesbothintheshortrunandlongruncontexts.
Studentsshouldbeawarethatsimplealgebraandelementarycalculuswillbeusedinthedevelopment
andexplanationofthevariousmacroeconomicframeworks.Althoughunderstandingcalculusisnot
amajorfeatureofthecourse,studentsshouldexpecttoseeeconomicanalysisexplainedgraphically,

isknownasabibliographicalchain.Thisresearchisdifficultifnotimpossibletocompleteif
papersarenotfullyandaccuratelyreferenced.
3. Thirdly,referencingisimportantasitaddscredibilitytotheargumentthatyouarepresenting.
