Re: State vs. Keith Maynard

Dear Judge Kaplan:

I am writing this letter in support of Keith Maynard to participate in the pretrial family
violence education program.

Keith and I have been close friends for almost two years. However, I grew up only a
town away from Mr. Maynard and we have always associated with the same group of
friends.

Mr. Maynard has always been shown to be a very compassionate and loyal man. He
interacts well with his peers and has always shown self respect and respect towards
others. He has also proved to be a great parent and role model to his teenage daughter.
After observing Keith's parenting, I have no doubt he is a devoted and understanding
father to his adolescent daughter.

I believe in Mr. Maynard and strongly stand by him. I can assure you that Mr. Maynard
will not only comply with the education program, but will also carry out what he learns
from it. If you have any questions regarding my recommendation for Keith Maynard,
please do not hesitate to contact me at anltime at203J.

Re: State v Keith Maynard

Dear Judge Kaplan:

Please accept this letter on behalf of Keith Maynard. As Keith is requesting to participate
in the pretrial family violence education progrurm, I ask you to please allow him the
opportunity to take advantage of this program.

I have known Keith and his family for many years; I've watched Keith become an adult
who is a responsible parent and a hard working individual.

I, also, served with him on the City of Ansonia Board of Aldermen for several years.
Keith listened to public concerns and attempted to resolve problems or referred to the
proper source, following up with public inquires while serving the citizens of Ansonia.
I've witnessed his mentoring to youth; his involvement, commitment and dedication to
our town.

Keith is surrounded by many family members and good friends who are willing and eager
to help him. If allowed to take part in this program, it will be an opportunity for Keith to
improve the way he communicates in personal situations, becoming more aware of
controlling his attitude and behavior.

Please strongly consider giving him this opportunity for I believe he will dedicate himself
to avoiding confrontations and excelling in life'

Should you require any other information, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Treasurer It is without hesitation that I urite a character letter for Mr. Keith
Maynard. I've known this young man for many years, and I've also
known his family since I moved to Connecticut forty-six years ago. I first
met his mom and dad in Ansonia" CT at a social function in Ansonia. My
husband, a Retked Detective Sgt. in West Haven, grew up with Keith's
parents and always spoke very highly of the Maynard family- Love and
respect was taught in his hpusehold and.their, actions s.po!<e to,that every

We all have bad days, and we all sometimes, regre{ ouq,a,{io4s when we

ar-€ angry or just having a bad day., This is what Ibelieve happened o3 the
day in question about Ksith Maynard's out of character behavior. I know
frim to be:a quiet, diplomatic,,soft spoken, well adjusted gentleman at ail
times. Fle comes from two parents who are known for their quiet
demeanor and calm attitudes. Neither he nor his brother have ever
displayed out of control anger at any time that I've heard or been in their
presence. Keith is a hard working young man who loves his family; he
loves Ansonia, the pmple in Ansonia, and the community where he was
raised. That's why he ran for public ofiice and won. He,knew that if he
ran and won" he would be able to make a difference for the people and the
youth in the city that he loved,Ansonia. :

For my husband and I to read that Keith Maynard had turned violent and
abusive, I knew that onthal day, he was indeed having a badday. His

that only God can help him through. He's young and I know he believes
in doing the right thing where this dilemma is concerned. He will always
remain a young man who made a quick decision to react unlike we know
him to be, but also one who feels the pain from his actions and willing to
resolve and correct his mistake of violent behavior and move forward in a
manner of making things right between he and his wife. If she is willing
to forgive him, and he is willing to accept a resolution that will benefit
both parties, then who are we the people to determine his punishment?
Let that decision be between Keittr" his wife and God. Allow Keith to ask
her for forgiveness, and let time and forgiveness be the factor in bringing
thern.back together again. Keith Maynard deserves another ohance.
