Hand Deburrer
Ideally suited for economic and different deburring, chamfering and refining
of different materials and contours. Hard-to-reach places, holes, inner and
outer diameters, threads and keyways can be easily worked on manually.

The three different, easily-changeable deburrers (blades, mini-blades and

countersink) are easy to guide and use with the special holder. The tools
fit beautifully to the counters of workpieces. The pivot-mounted adapter
system makes handling and changing the deburring device very easy.

The handy, ergonomic design of the flexible plastic holder and the tough,
hard inner part protects against sharp edges and corners during work. The
angular collar prevents the deburring device rolling away, thus providing

PFERD offers a very extensive line of vitrified and resinoid-bonded mounted

points.
Designed to meet individual application needs, these products come in
a broad range of grain types, grit sizes, hardness levels and shapes. The
mounted points are manufactured on advanced production lines to high
standards of dimensional accuracy and stability, consistent quality, and
close tolerances.
To select the correct group mounted point, the material, main fields of
application and specific operating requirements have to be taken into
consideration. This overview shows which different types (abrasive, bonds
and hardness grades) are recommended for
the various materials and the tasks at hand.
Materials
Normally it is necessary to determine the material to be machined. The
various material groups are colour-coded and shown on the left-hand side
of the chart below.
Applications
The application must then be selected according to the type of work on the
material. We make the following differentiation :
General use
Surface grinding and
Edge grinding applications
It is necessary to differentiate the selection criterial into material,
application and required surface finish to find the optimum mounted point
bond and the grain mix have an imoact on the grinding output, tool life and
aggressiveness of the tools.
For general use, the emphasis is on the balance between grinding
output and tool life
In surface grinding, the mounted ponts are subject to fewer loads. This is
why the mounted point bond is comparatively soft and designed to give
high stock removal
If edge grinding, the mounted points must be dimensionally stable is
comparably hard and designed for a long tool life
Mounted point hardness

After determining the application, the hardness can be selected in the
horizontal row. The highly suitable bond is shown with a black dot ( ).
The hardness grade within the bonds ara arranged from :soft to hard.

A grinding wheel which is composed of three elements; grain, bond and pore,
rotates at high speed to grind a workpiece efficiently, and create a fine finish
with high dimensional accuracy. This machining method is called grinding.
As the work progresses, grain wears, causes cleavage, and breaks down while
generating new cutting edges. this is the self-sharpening of a cutting edge, and
is the biggest feature that other grinding tools do not have.
In general precision grinding, a new cutting edge is generated forcibly when
the grain is worn. This is called dressing.

GRAIN SIZE

This represents the degree of bond strength that grips the grain. Generally,
it is also called hardness. It does not represent the hardness of grain
and strength of the grinding wheel. It represents softness and hardness
of grinding interaction using letters. A character closer to A means the
strength is low (soft), and closer to Z means strength is high (hard). A
grade should be selected according to the hardness of the work material
and desired grinding efficiency.
This is phenol resin bond. Because of its high rigidity and resistance to
high- speed rotation, it is used for free grinding. Taking advantage of
large elastic characteristics, this is also used for precision finish grinding.
Other resin bonds to be noted are epoxy resin bond (Y) which is for
preventing burns in grinding, and polyvinyl acetal resin bond (P) which
is highly elastic and is used for polishing.
STRUCTURE
This implies volume ratio of grain that occupies a certain capacity of

grinding wheel. The structure is represented by a number. If the space

This is a ceramic and glass type bond. High in water and chemical

CBN AND DIAMOND DRESSER GRINDING WHEEL
CBN Grinding Wheel

Diamond CBN wheel
This is a wheel using diamond which is the hardest among existing
substances, and has wear resistance, and CBN (cubic boron nitride)
which is the second hardest next to diamond, as the grain.
l Diamond
There are natural and artificial diamond. Recently, artificial diamond
is mostly used. It is synthesized into spherical or cube shape. It is
sometimes metal coated and is combined with compatible bond for
us. This is used as abrasive material for grinding, cutting and lapping of
tough and brittle non-metal such as glass.
l CBN
This substance does not exist in nature. Inferior to diamond in terms
of hardness, the thermal safety is superb. It demonstrates excellent
grinding characteristics for tough and brittle steel work materials.
Similarly with diamond, metal coated CBN or CBN with micro crystal
body are available.
This is used in combination with a compatible bond. (Borazon is a
registered name of GE Co.)
l Bond
Metal bond (M):
This is bond into which various metal powder are mixed. As if features
gripping strength of grain and long service life, it is used for cutting
of concrete and stone material. Besides, this is used for grinding and
honing of optical glass and ceramics.

Resinoid bond (B):

This is a phenol thermal setting resin bond, it hold grain less powerfully,
but its low elastic coefficient is suitable for wet grinding from to heavy
duty grinding.
Vitrified bond (V):
This is ceramic and glass type bond. As this bond is next high in
gripping strength of grain to metal bond, excellent in form maintaining
characteristic, and superb power in grinding power, this bond is used
for precision grinding. Not only porous type, but also micro pore type
and the type without pore also available.
Electroplated Bond (P)
Grains are plated onto the base material by means of electroplating. It is
possible to manufacture wheels with complicated shape, and it grinds
excellently. However, the grain layer is only single (multiple layer type
for special application is also available). The life of the bond is shorter
than other bonds.
The component element of a diamond CBN wheel is basically the same
as a grinding wheel, but the area equivalent to structure of grinding
wheel is the concentration.
Concentration is the amount of grain contained in the unit volume
of diamond and CBN grain layer. When the concentration is 100, the
grain layer per 1 cm contains 4.4 carat of diamond and CBN, and it is
indicated as 4.4 ct/cm.

Point Dresser (Cone And Square Shape)
Features:
A conical shaped diamond dresser is called a cone point dresser, and a
piramid dresser is called a square point dresser, both of which have a fixed
nose angle. Its extremely difficult to grind corners of natural diamond to a
certain shape.
The condition of the dressing surface is largely effected by the shape of
dresser nose.
Benefits:
Since the cone point dresser has the nose point at the center of the shank,
