Aims:
The Training department exists to support and reinforce the NGO's strategy and helps the NGO employees and
community in the acquisition of knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to perform their jobs or improve their lives.
The Training Standard Review process exists to ensure a consistent application of the Training standards and to capitalize
on the areas of strength and identify areas of improvement related to the NGO's Training department.
Methodology:
The Training Standards Review is an auditing tool that was put in place to ensure the compliance with the Training
standards in NGOs that conduct training.
It is an independent, objective and consulting activity designed to add value and improve the NGOs Training operations.
It helps the NGO accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the
effectiveness of control and governance processes.
Conducted by an external reviewer, the review capitalizes on the areas of strength and allocates areas of improvement
related to the NGOs Training department.
The overall responsibility for the achievement of the standards is held by the Training Manager.
Following the reviews, the Reviewer and the Training Manager will discuss the outcome with the NGO Management and
agree on a future plan of action.
The format can be used as a tool to set-up the Training department in a new NGO or for handover between Training
Managers.
