1.List of Information Systems used at FedEx:

Information system used for collecting data entry and process.(data


regarding senders location, date/place of collection etc.)
Information system for shipping data entry and process.(data regarding
receipents location/choice of consignment service-standard,express etc,)
Information system for calculating packages volume.
Information system for calculating freight charge based on packages
volume and weight.
Information system for collecting and monitoring flight operations.
Information system for delivery data entry and process.(data regarding date
of delivery, time of delivery etc).

Information Systems that might be used at FedEx:


Decison support system which combine data and mathematical or anlytical
models.
Expert system that grabs and stores the knowledge of huan experts.
Transaction processing system used to perform and record the daily routine
transactions.
2. Information regarding the weight, height, destination of the package etc are
available to all the employees and all datas are automatically sorted out in order to
send each package are sent to the right destination as quickly as possible. So, this is
an enterprise system as the ai of efficiency is present. They also aims to answer the
customer requests by integrating information which also suggest that this is an
enterprising system. Again they evaluate the best way to put packages into the
plane in order not to lose any space. There is a central database that helps to coordinate shipping and monitor packages at any time which is efficient since FedEx
controllers can use the information to make decisions in order to make sure the

packages are delivered on time. So all these suggests that this is an enterprising
system.
3. Technology is important to FedEx business processes because without these
technologies it would not have been possible to deliver the packages packages so
quickly and efficiently. Again technology also helps to send or deliver the packages
at the right place or destination. Through technology the price to be paid by the
sender is determined by judging the weight and height of the package. Technology
helps to avoid human mistakes and also helps both the company and the customer
to know at every moment where the package is located.
4. The two ways by which FedEx shipping process can be improved are given
below:
a) One of the solutions may be to work on the confidence between FedEx and
its customers, and reinforce loyalty. The receiver should be aware of the
future arrival of the package (date, time) and could leave another address
just next to the real one where it could be left (at a neighbors, a close shop).
b) Another solution could be an incentive for employees according to the
number of complaints they received, so that they would pay more attention
to the place where they leave the box.
