Note: There is a limited length spectrum available for therm-x2 Profile-VM; see steel panel radiator price list.
Note: For rooms with interrupted heating, a reheating factor, space-dependent where applicable, must be determined according to DIN EN 12831.
RH = A x

fRH

The radiators are dimensioned according to these tables with the standard heating load HL determined taking account of the auxiliary heating load (RH).
This additional heating output must be agreed with the customer/principal.
Radiator dimensioning: A conversion table with correction factors for deviating design temperatures can be found using the keyword
"Radiator design/Correction factors", see page 132 / 133.

Note: There is a limited length spectrum available for therm-x2 Profile-VM; see steel panel radiator price list.
Note: For rooms with interrupted heating, a reheating factor, space-dependent where applicable, must be determined according to DIN EN 12831.
RH = A x

fRH

The radiators are dimensioned according to these tables with the standard heating load HL determined taking account of the auxiliary heating load (RH).
This additional heating output must be agreed with the customer/principal.
Radiator dimensioning: The conversion table is based on the exact radiator exponents (see table "Registered output data", see page 20)

Note!
Two-pipe system:
Kermi valve radiators are factory-fitted with a valve insert matched to the heat output.
kv- assignment according to practical the parameters 70/55/20C at a differential pressure of 100 mbar.
With an identical mass flow ratio, all other temperature pairings that lie on the same characteristic curve
in the heating panel dimensioning diagram are also possible. The hydraulic ratios always remain the same.

Note: For rooms with interrupted heating, a reheating factor, space-dependent where applicable, must be determined according to DIN EN 12831.
RH = A x

* Fine pressure adjustment valve V3K F

Note!
Two-pipe system:
Kermi valve radiators are factory-fitted with a valve insert matched to the heat output.
kv assignment according to the practical parameters 70/55/20C at a differential pressure of 100 mbar.
With an identical mass flow ratio, all other temperature pairings that lie on the same characteristic curve
in the heating panel dimensioning diagram are also possible. The hydraulic ratios always remain the same.

Marking
on valve

V3K F

V3K S

One-pipe system:
If the radiators are used in a one-pipe system, the valve insert should be turned to position "8".

Note: There is a limited length spectrum available for therm-x2 Plan/Line-VM; see steel panel radiator price list.
Note: For rooms with interrupted heating, a reheating factor, space-dependent where applicable, must be determined according to DIN EN 12831.
RH = A x

Note: There is a limited length spectrum available for therm-x2 Plan/Line-VM; see steel panel radiator price list.
Note: For rooms with interrupted heating, a reheating factor, space-dependent where applicable, must be determined according to DIN EN 12831.
RH = A x

fRH

The radiators are dimensioned according to these tables with the standard heating load HL determined taking account of the auxiliary heating load (RH).
This additional heating output must be agreed with the customer/principal.
Radiator dimensioning: The conversion table is based on the exact radiator exponents (see table "Registered output data", see page 42)

Radiator dimensioning
Rooms with interrupted heating mode
according to DIN EN 12831
According to DIN EN 12831, max. permissible reheating times can
be defined for reheating a room once heating has been discontinued.
The reheating time required thus determines the level of auxiliary
heating load needed for this.
The reheating capacity (RH) to DIN EN 12831 for rooms with an
interrupted heating mode is calculated as follows:

= SL *

SL = Standard heat output of the radiator

Wln = Logarithmically averaged temperature rise
tV - tR
W
ln

A = Area [m2]

HL HL, net RH

HL, Netto  TV

T = Transmission heat loss

V = Ventilation heat loss
Note: The reheating time and the resulting additional heating
capacity may need to be agreed upon with the client for each room.
The values that result from defining a particular reheating time for
reheating factors (fRH in [W/m2]) are to be taken from the tables of
the country-specific appendix to EN 12831.
Reduced output is also to be taken into account in the case of recess
installation and other rebuilds involving the radiator.
It is possible to work with the factory-provided tables when dealing
with design temperatures of 70/55 and 55/45. At other design
temperatures the heat output has to be converted using the following
formula or using the simplified conversion table on the next page.
Conversion of the heat output
The standard heat outputs to DIN EN 442 are based on a flow
temperature of 75C, a return temperature of 65C and a room
temperature of 20C. For other temperature ratios the outputs
must be converted as per the following formula:

132

Kermi therm-x2 steel panel radiators

= Heat output of the radiator at the operating conditions

RH = A * fRH

The reheating factor (fRH) is to be taken from the standard's countryspecific appendix. The factor takes into account the reheating time,
the building's mass and the extent of the assumed temperature
decrease during the setback phase.
For the standard heat load (HL), the following is obtained:

Wln
49,83

tV - tL
tR - tL

= Exponent for radiator characteristic curve

Radiator dimensioning in case of combined systems

Radiators with greatly differing exponents (n) that are operated in a
common heating system (for example, mixed systems of convectors
and radiators) differ in their heat output with decreasing supply
temperature.
In this case Kermi recommends the following procedure:
Across-the-board increase in the amount of 8 - 12 %.
Resistance Value
The internal flow resistance of all convectors can practically be
neglected. For calculation of the network of pipes the following
individual resistances per radiator must be taken into account for
the connections up to a water velocity of 1,0 m / s. The -values are
based on the inflow and outflow resistance of the convectors.

tV flow temperature C
110

Determination of the heat output of a

radiator for an individual system temperature (tV/tR/tL) from the given standard heat output at T50 (75/65/20)
Conversion formula:

105

H =

H = Heat output at individual

system temperature
S = Standard heat output
F = Conversion factor
Example:
Given:
- System temperature
of the heating system
tV/tR/tL = 55/45/20

100

95

- Standard heat output

of the radiator
1960 watts
Desired: - Heat output of the radiator at
tV/tR/tL = 55/45/20

90

Solution:

H =

1960 watts
= 1000 watts
1,96

The radiator with a standard heat output of

1960 watts provides an output of 1000 watts
when operated at tV/tR/tL = 55/45/20.
Conversion of a specified standard heating load for a room to the standard heat
output (T50 - 75/65/20) of a radiator to
select the required size of the radiator.

85

80

Conversion formula:

S HL * F
S = Standard heat output
HL = Standard heating load
F = Conversion factor

75

70

Example:
Given:
- Standard heating load
for the room
1000 watts
- System temperature
of the heating system
(tV/tR/tL) = 55/45/20
Desired: - Standard heat output
of the radiator
(T50 - 75/65/20)

65

60

Solution:

S = 1000 watts * 1,96 = 1960 watts

To cover the standard heating load
of 1000 watts at tV/tR/tL = 55/45/20,
a radiator with an output of 1960 watts
needs to be selected from the table of
standard heat outputs (T50 - 75/65/20).
When operated at tV/tR/tL= 55/45/20, it will
then provide the required heat output of
1000 watts.
tV = Flow temperature [C]
tR = Return temperature [C]
tL = Air temperature [C]

Note: The expected reduced outputs are not decreases in performance.
