INTRODUCTION
This procedure covers the requirement for the drains and culverts installation.

Specification for hot rolled steel bars for the reinforcement of concrete
MATERIAL
A. GENERAL
All drainage work shall be carried out in conformity with the drawings and
specification.
B. EXCAVATION
The bottoms of all excavations shall be trimmed and consolidated to the correct
levels. Where the bottom is insufficiently firm, the Contractor shall excavate until, in
the ER.s opinion a firm bottom is obtained and the level shall be made up with
material of the same composition as for drain beds. Particulars of such additional
work shall be agreed with the ER before the work is covered up.

4.0
LAYING OF DRAINS
Positions of drains generally shall be as shown on drawings but the exact alignment
and invert levels shall be confirmed by the ER. on the site.
5.0
TESTING DRAINS
The Contractor shall notify the ER when the drains are ready for testing and no
trenches
are
to
be
filled
in
until
the
drains
have
been
tested.
Allow for testing the drains in section, with the water test or by other means when laid

All rubbish particularly earth, mud, wood chipping, shaving and sawdust, shall be
removed from the steel reinforcement before concrete is placed and the formwork to
be in contact with the concrete shall be cleaned and either thoroughly wetted.
Note : Care should be taken that the oil or composition is kept out of contact with the
reinforcement.
7.0
SAFETY PLAN
The safety for application of this work shall comply with NSDS Health, Safety
Environment Manual. All basic requirements for personnel will be check prior to
work.
