Event Program
Welcome to HANNOVER MESSE 2015
A broad range of forums, conferences and special events offers you the chance to learn more about the key issues affecting
industry today. Here at the worlds biggest and most influential trade fair for industrial technology you can compare notes,
pick up valuable know-how and check out the latest innovations, giving you the edge you need to keep your business on track
and ahead of the pack.

Integrated Industry - Join the Network

Lead Theme for HANNOVER MESSE 2015
The message behind "Integrated Industry Join the Network!" is that the key challenges of the fourth industrial revolution
such as achieving universal standards for machine-to-machine communication, maintaining data security and finding new
business models can be mastered only through collective endeavor in networks.
The technological advances that can flow from networking will be made real and tangible at HANNOVER MESSE 2015.
Visitors to the fair will witness digitally networked production plants, ingenious new production processes, and next-generation
industrial robots live in action. They will see collaborative robots with sensor systems so advanced that they can work right
alongside their human counterparts without any safety barriers. And they will see IT-based automation solutions that will bring
fundamental change to all in-factory organizational processes.
Partner Country India
India has just been designated the official Partner Country at
HANNOVER MESSE 2015. India is an emerging economic
giant which is going to open up enormous sales potential for
our German and international exhibitors at HANNOVER
MESSE. Ultimately all our exhibitors and visitors as well as
the trade fair venue of Hannover will benefit equally from the
participation of this attractive Partner Country.

Seminar on "India-Germany: Towards a Strategy Skilling India
Hall 6, India Theme Pavilion
Wednesday, 15 April 2015, 09:30 a.m. 13:00 p.m.

India sits at a tremendous demographic advantage, while the global labour force is ageing, India has a burgeoning youth
population. Indias current population of 1.2 billion is expected to enlarge to 1.8 billion by 2045. The significant aspect of this
increase relates to the expansion in the size of its working age (15-64 years) population.
While the opportunities are in terms of a demographic dividend, challenges of a persistent skill gap remain. Only 2 per cent of
the population is vocationally trained. There is an urgent need to reform the Vocational Education and Training system.
The question of reforming the VET system by adapting the German dual system has long been discussed the Indo German
Working Group on Vocational Training and Education. Both the Government of India and the Federal Government of
Germany have exhibited commitment in the area of vocational training with both governments agreeing to incorporate the
action of the Working Group into a 'roadmap' in the future for strategic planning purposes in India.
One of the breakthroughs has been the adaptation of the Apprenticeship scheme from the international partner to enable
efficient implementation of the amended Apprenticeship Act in India. One of the imperative learnings the group has identified
is the process of making vocational training aspirational. The fulcrum of the German dual system is the manner in which the
issue of horizontal and vertical progression is handled. The Indian side has made progress and has started adapting a few
features of the dual system. Training of Trainers (ToT) is integral to the dual system and aspects of the ToT have been
adapted in India.
The Expert Seminar will give indepth insight into the many opportunities that exist in skill development in India and areas in
which the dual system has gained prominence.

9th German-Japanese Business Forum
Industry 4.0 Smart Factories of Tomorrow
Hall 6 (Global Business & Markets)
Wednesday, 15 April 2015, 2:00 p.m. 5:30 p.m. (11:30 a.m. 13:30 p.m. guided tour Industry 4.0)
In high-tech nations like Germany, industry is already on the threshold of a fourth industrial revolution. Following the
mechanization, electrification and computerization of industry, our real and virtual worlds are becoming increasingly
intertwined into an Internet of Things. This will create fertile soil for the intelligent factory, in which services and data,
resources and customer requirements are automatically merged and managed. Product individualization in the context of
highly flexible mass production will become a key factor in global competition, while resource and energy efficiency will
continue to be optimized.
At the 9th German-Japanese Business Forum, experts from industry and research from both nations will present their
innovations and strategies involving Industry 4.0 and explore the relevant opportunities and options for cooperation. To kick
off the forum interested attendees can go on a tour of the Industry 4.0 exhibition sector, organized by Deutsche Messe.

Energy and Environmental Engineering

program

Numerous investment decisions are made at the Energy & Environmental Engineering display sector. The transition to
renewable forms of energy is and will remain one of our major themes over the next few years. At HANNOVER MESSE youll
find a series of high-caliber forums and thematic clusters to promote knowledge transfer and ensure the early identification of
important new trends and topics. Meet with decision-makers from business, the research community and government to find
out more about the steps being taken by todays enterprises to transform the current setup, consisting of a small number of
large-scale power plants, into one based on a multiplicity of small-scale power plants fueled by natural resources like natural
gas, solar, wind or biomass. Learn as well about the challenges this energy transition will entail, and use the forums and
conferences here to cultivate and expand your network of contacts.

Smart Grids Forum
Hall 13, Stand C35
13 17 April 2015, 10:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m.
What does the secure, efficient, sustainable and competitive power supply system of the future look like?
Energy demand is rising worldwide, but in most regions - even in developed countries - the infrastructure is aging. Also, as
renewable energies gain importance, demands on the power grid are rising, with volatile and decentralized power supply
threatening its stability. Both the political and business spheres are calling for comprehensive renovation of the energy
infrastructure, and closer coordination between energy generation, distribution, storage and consumption.
The Smart Grids Forum offers lectures from experts and panel discussions. It is integrated in the themed presentation Smart
Grids and is supported by the German Federation of the New Energy Economy (bne), the German Trade & Invest, the
German Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies (VDE) and the German Electrical and Electronic

INDUSTRIE 4.0 Business Opportunities for the Smart Service World
Connected Factories, Intelligent Products and Smart Services as Location
Factor
Hall 6, Business Forum 1
Monday, 13 April 2015, 3:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m.

The fourth Industrial Revolution with intelligent machines and devices requires the development of new digital services and
business models: a Smart Service World. Everything-as-a-service (XaaS) offerings will allow new products and services from all sectors to be bundled together. This will create new industry sectors and markets for software providers and
industry concerns alike.
All industry nations are faced with the same task: mastering the different challenges created by the fourth industrial revolution.
A number of studies show that German managers are significantly more skeptical about the potential added value of
digitization than their international counterparts. Policy makers and industry associations however warn that Germany cannot
afford to lose its globally leading automation position in the digital world.
The panel discussion allows representatives from both the old and new economies to state their respective positions to
INDUSTRIE 4.0 and smart services.

12th Niedersachsen Foreign Trade Day
Frugal Innovations: From Simplified to Ideal!
P37/Nord/LB Forum, Exhibition Grounds Hannover
15 April 2015, 2:00 a.m. 6:30 p.m
Low-cost innovations for penetrating cost-sensitive markets.
High quality, yet low-cost: So-called frugal innovations are paving the way to win new customers and challenge competitors
from low-wage nations.
Germany is internationally known for its export of high-tech products, primarily to western industrialized nations which are
experiencing minimal growth. In the worlds fast-growing emerging markets, however, German enterprises are steadily losing
market share despite the high quality of their goods as they are being priced out of those markets. The demand in these
countries is for affordable, rugged products, as opposed to highly complex, expensive ones.
How can German enterprises successfully compete in these markets and win over an upwardly mobile middle class there on
a long-term basis?
Successful examples from practice will show how it can be done.
