ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS FOR INITIAL MEMBERSHIP
An application for initial membership will be accepted if the applicant (a) holds at least a post-graduate degree
in History or is undertaking research leading to M.Phil/Ph.D. degree in an allied field or (b) has published a
book or an academic paper on a historical theme (full reference to be provided).
Note:

The Secretary is authorized to reject an application if none of the above criteria is met, provided that an
appeal for review of the decision may be made by the applicant to the Executive Committee, which
may consider it either at its next meeting or by correspondence.

PROCEDURE FOR INITIAL ENROLMENT

An application for initial membership shall have to conform to the following procedure:
(i)
Application shall be made on a form prescribed by the Executive Committee
(ii)
Each application form must be accompanied by
(a) self-attested copies of document/s in support of the eligibility conditions which have been
specified above; and
(b) two self-attested photographs (passport-size) of the applicant; one of which is to be pasted on the
form, and the other stapled to it.
(iii)

The name of each applicant is to be proposed and seconded by existing Ordinary or Life Members.
Only such members of the Association as are eligible for holding office and participating in the
Business Meeting of the Association under Clause 5(b) of the Constitution can propose or second an
application for initial membership. However, this will not apply to the Representatives nominated by
the Governments, Universities and other Institutions recognized by the Congress.

(iv)

Incomplete applications are liable to be rejected.
