Seventeenth Senate Minutes

14 December 2007
11AM, Firstenburg Conference Room

1. Call to Order. Meeting was called to order 11:05 am by V.P. Peter Sterr.
2. Roll Call. All present.
3. Additions or corrections to agenda. Senator Whitling moved to change the date
from December 11 to December 4, 2007. Senator Morgan seconded. Senator
Wiggins moved to add Speech and Debate to number 12 on the agenda under new
business. Senator Fuller seconded.
4. Approved Amended Agenda.
5. Approve Minutes. Minutes were approved.
6. Reports.
a. President Announcements – Darren talked about SGC member details,
working the budget, executive staff meeting, student government meeting,
donated money has restrictions, and working on changing the by laws for
elections.
b. Vice-President Announcements – Peter is working on the food give away
for finals, SG meeting, planning a retreat for winter break, working on a
business plan for the rec. center, and donations for the poker tournament.
c. Executive Staff –
i. Activities Director: McKenzie has been working on the Mobster
ball menu and decorations, and the poker tournament.
ii. Public Relations: Emily has been working on tickets for the
Blazers, Sonics, and getting radio support for the poker
tournament. She is also advertising all events.
iii. IT: Erik has been working on the website and general computer
duties.
iv. Legislative Affairs: Andrea starts next Monday! WooHoo!
v. Director of Clubs: Blake is working on a club fair and a pizza feed,
also he ordered reader boards for the buildings.
7. Committees Announcement –
i. External affairs – Toy Drive ended, it was a success, and they will
be doing a drop tomorrow at 10 am and need help.
ii. Programming – Working on decorating the commons, a proposal
to S and A fees by March.
iii. Finance – $30,200 right now, doing okay, have about 2,000 per
meeting.
iv. Rules and Regulations – Election by-law changes will be presented
at the next meeting.
v. Budget- The budget committee will meet next semester.
vi. *Peter requested meeting times for all committees.
Old Business.
8. Schedules. Time for meeting.
i. No conflicts with 11am on Fridays
b. Date for first meeting
i. Will meet the first Friday we are back from winter break.
9. Tentative Elections Calendar
a. Whitling moved to table calendar until next meeting. Wiggins seconded.
New Business.

a. Read by Wiggins, Whitling moved to second reading. Seconded by
Morgan. Whitling moved to call to question. Aday seconded. Bill
passed.
11. Bill 17.032
a. Read by Gaya, Fuller moved to second reading. Wiggins seconded. Gaya
moved to call to question. Wiggins seconded. Bill Passed.
Announcements.
12. Student Government Retreat time
a. Sunday January 6, from 11 to 5pm.
13. Adjourned. The meeting was adjourned at 12:16 pm by V.P. Peter Sterr.
