Field
Description
Mode of mold height adjustment for toggle clamp machines with
the following selection options:
Position
The mold height is set depending on the position. This requires
specification of the minimum and maximum mold height and the
origin of the mold height in the mask 'Machine limits'.
Adjust mode
Force:
The mold height is determined by the set clamp force in input field
'Clamp force' (specification of maximum clamping force and system pressure in the mask 'Machine limits' is required).
Pressure:
The mold height is determined by the set clamp pressure in input
field 'Clamp pressure'. In this case the set profiles for mold close
and mold open movement will be executed.
Adjust by time
When this function is activated the mold height adjustment is executed over a defined period (Input filed 'Adjust time').
Clamp force
The clamp force that is used for mold height adjustment when using adjust mode 'Force' is specified in the right field. The left field
displays the last determined clamp force during mold height adjustment.
This setting is only active in the Adjust mode "Force".
Clamp pressure
The pressure that is used for mold height adjustment when using
adjust mode 'Pressure' is specified in the right field.
This setting is only active in the Adjust mode "Pressure".
Mold height
The new mold height is specified in the right field. The left field
displays the actual determined mold height.
This setting is only active in adjust mode "Position".
Monitor time

Export settings
Fig.4-34:
The selection between the Binary Format (later import for viewing possible)
and Text (for import into Excel) is made in the group Output format.
The group Output mode is used to select between Manual mode and Automatic mode. Manual mode means that on activation of the "Start Export"
button the current and complete measurement is output once into the specified
file. Any file with the same name is overwritten. Automatic Mode means that
at the start of the next measurement the data are written into the specified file
in the format selected. The export can either be explicitly terminated by the
user or is terminated if the end criterion is reached (File Count).
The specification of an Interval > 1 enables the selective omission of measurement. With binary measurements exactly one file will be created in the
automatic mode for an order (Output in the area Output file under Name).
These are then automatically given a consecutive number by the system (e.g.:
MyExportFile000.bin, MyExportFile001.bin, ...). After notification to the user
any given measurement sequence with the same name is completely deleted
prior to the start of the new measurement.

5.24.1
Purpose
This mask is used for the calibration of transducers and valves automatically.
Information
This mask is only available for hydraulic injection molding machines.
Standard:
Ensure that the system pressure sensor (settings in tab Inject pressure)
has been calibrated before starting auto calibration.
If no pressure sensor is available, pump pressure (settings in tab pump
pressure) has to be calibrated manually.
Servo valve:
If a servo valve is used, ensure that pressure before and after servo
valve (settings in tabs Inject pressure and Inject system pressure)
have been calibrated.
If one of these pre- conditions are not fulfilled, auto calibration probably results
in incorrect parameters.
181

9) Screw rotation calibration RPM
10) Injection velocity calibration
11) Servo pressure release calibration (only if servo valve is available)
12) Hold pressure calibration (only if no servo valve is available)
Abortion of the auto calibration
Information
If a servo valve is available, calibration group Closed loop wont be executed
automatically.
Automatic calibration for closed loop components has to be triggered manually.
Executing auto calibration step by step
Auto calibration for each component is triggered by corresponding button
Information
In general, it is recommended to execute the single auto calibration steps in
the same order as they are performed when executing all auto calibration
steps automatically. For single auto calibration, following rules must be adhered.

Machine Locking/Unlocking
5.46.1
Purpose
This mask serves for locking/unlocking the machine.
The machine producer can agree with the client upon a testing phase. If no
valid unlock key has been entered until the end of the testing phase (e.g. 1
month), the machine will be locked, which means that the motor will be turned
off and no further production is possible.
For unlocking the machine an unlock key has to be requested from the manufacturer of the injection molding machine and the key has to be entered into
this mask.
213
KePlast HMI.KVS
Information
The lock status of the machine can also be changed with an USB device that
contains a valid lock key or unlock key.
As soon as an USB device with valid machine lock or unlock data is detected,
the machine lock status will be changed automatically.
A lock or unlock key can only be used for one time. After that the key becomes
invalid.
If the USB device contains multiple lock keys, always the lock key with the
expire date which lies the farthest in the future will be used. All other lock keys
on the USB device also become invalid as soon as the lock key which lies the
farthest in the future becomes active.
If the USB device contains a lock key and a unlock key, always the unlock
key will be used.

Scope
Purpose
The software oscilloscope is used for recording and displaying process variables. The measured values are represented in an yt-chart. The purpose is the
diagnosis of process or system problems.
Recordings can be saved and displayed again at a later date or on a different
system. A measurement can also be saved in a text format and then displayed
in another application (e.g. MS Excel). Measurements can be started either
manually or trigger-driven. System variables, system events and system
alarms can be used as trigger events.

6.7.3.1
Settings
All parameters required for a measurement are configured in the settings dialog. These include the setting of the measurement type (manual and/or triggerdriven measurement) and their characteristic values (trigger event, pre/posttrigger, interval, measurement duration, threshold value, etc.) In addition, the
248
KePlast HMI.KVS
variables for the measurement are selected here and their visual attributes
defined.
Settings - Measure Parameter
The settings dialog can be opened by pressing the menu button Setup Setup. The tab "Measure Parameter" defines the measurement type,
duration and interval of the measurement.
The setting in the section Scroll range determines the area around which to
scroll in case of a fully drawn graphic. Here Scroll Factor = 0 indicates pushing
the graphic by the complete display area, Scroll Factor = 2 indicates pushing
the graphic by half of the area, Scroll Factor = 5 indicates pushing the graphic
by 1/5 of the area, etc.
249
Fig.6-20:
KePlast HMI.KVS
During manual Measure both the Interval (scan interval; every x-measurement is saved) as well as the Duration can be set. If the value 0 has been
specified as measurement duration, the measurement will be continuous. This
measurement can only be terminated by pressing the button Stop.
If a measurement duration greater than 0 is entered, the scan interval will be
automatically corrected if necessary, to ensure that the measurement duration
corresponds with the buffer size x of the (corrected) scan interval. An automatic
correction of the measurement duration is implemented, if the scan interval is
changed, so that the measurement duration (once more corrected) corresponds with the buffer size x of the scan interval. If a continuous measurement
is set (measurement duration = 0) the scan interval is not corrected.
Example 1:
Buffer size: 2,000 measurement values, scan interval: 0.01 s measurement
duration = 20 s.
During the triggered Measure it is possible to specify a Pretrigger as well as
Posttrigger besides the Interval (scan interval) and the Duration. The configuration of a continuous measurement is not possible. The pretrigger and the
posttrigger are specified as time period (s). The measurement duration is the
cumulative sum of pretrigger and posttrigger. If the scan interval is changed,
the time values for both, pre- as well as posttrigger, are adjusted aliquot.
Example 2:
Original scan interval: 0.1 s
Measurement duration: Pre-trigger 4 s, Post-trigger 3 s (measurement buffer
full).

selected.
Settings - Parameter
The settings dialog can be opened by pressing the menu button Setup Configuration, tab Parameter of the software oscilloscope mask. The
parameter selection enables selection of the system variables to be recorded.
A maximum of 12 variables can be selected.

Information
If no groupings were created in the variables monitor, no variables are available.
Parameters can be manually added by entering them into the field Parameter and subsequent confirmation of the addition.
Settings - Linecolor
The settings dialog will be opened by pressing the menu button Setup Configuration, tab Linecolor of the software oscilloscope mask. Every IEC variable can be assigned a specific line color here.

Reference curve the system variable will be displayed in addition to the reference curve (therefor see chapter "Selection of reference curves").
6.7.3.3
Export settings
The export settings dialog can be opened by using the menu items Export Export Setup.
Fig.6-25:
The selection between the Binary format format (later import for viewing possible) and Text (for import into Excel) is made in the group Output mode.
The group Output mode is used to select between Manual mode and Automatic mode. Manual Mode means that on activation of the key Export Start
Export the current and complete measurement is output once into the specified file. Any file with the same name is overwritten. Automatic mode means
that at the start of the next measurement the data are written into the specified
file in the format selected. The export can either be explicitly terminated by the
user or in case the end criteria is reached (File Count).
The specification of an Interval > 1 enables the selective omission of measurements. With binary measurements exactly one file will be created in the
automatic mode for an order (output under File name). These are then automatically given continuous numbers by the system (e.g.: MyExportFile000.bin, MyExportFile001.bin, ...). After notification to the user
any given measurement sequence with the same name is completely deleted
254
KePlast HMI.KVS
prior to the start of the new measurement. During text export the data are always attached to the existing file, which was newly created at the start of the
measurement. Behavior, if files exist with the same name, as described above.
6.7.3.4
Selection of referencecurves
The software oscilloscope enables the selection of reference curves in order
to compare a previously recorded curve against the current values of IEC variables. Reference curves can only be selected during triggered recording
and not during manual recording.
IEC variables are selected as reference curves in two ways:

Element
Explanation
Cycle loop - begin
Per default, the begin of the cycle loop is at the top of the sequence. It is possible
to add elements before the cycle loop, those action will be executed before the
loop starts for the first time.
Default elements
Most elements are visualized as quadrates with an icon. The shown example
represents the mold close movement.
parallel elements
Parallel elements are surrounded with two parallel lines.
Conditions
Conditions are visualized with a turned quadrate. The text on this element can be
chosen by the user. Inside the yes and the no branch of the condition, elements
can be placed freely. The end of the condition is represented by bringing together
the yes and the no branch.
Loops
The loop is represented as a rhombus. The text on this element can be chosen
by the user. The end of the loop element is represented by a returning arrow.
Groups
Multiple elements can be combined into a group. A group is represented as a
quadrate. The text on this element can be chosen freely by the user. On selecting
a group an expand/collapse icon is shown next to the group for expanding and
collapsing the group.
Cycle loop - end
Per default, the end of the cycle loop is at the bottom of the sequence. It is possible
to add elements after the cycle loop, those actions will be executed after the last
iteration of the sequence loop has ended.
7.2.1.2
Properties
The right side of the sequencer is used to show the properties of the currently
selected element. In Edit Mode, if the option for adding an element is selected,
a list of available elements is shown instead. In the View Mode, in addition to
the element properties, the safety conditions for the element are shown if there
are any available.
Safety conditions
In View Mode the right side of the sequencer shows the safety conditions of
the currently selected element, if there are any available. Every safety condi-
264
KePlast HMI.KVS
tion has its own line consisting of an expand/collapse icon, a green/red icon
and the name of the movement. The expander icon shows the position that the
movement has to reach to make the condition come true. It is sufficient that
one of the possible positions is reached for the safety condition to be valid. If
the condition is true a green icon whill be shown, if the condition is false a red
icon will be shown.

Load/Save cycle
Information
When saving a mold data set in KePlast HMI.KVS visualization, the current
machine cycle will be stored together with the mold data. When loading a
mold data set, the stored machine cycle within the mold data set will be loaded
automatically.
In CycleView Mode there is a possibility to save and load machine cycles separated from the mold data.
Therefore proceed as follows.
1) Select Load/Save in the toolbar.
266
KePlast HMI.KVS
Fig.7-4:
Fig.7-5:
The field Active sequence data shows the name of the currently loaded
machine cycle record. If the current machine cycle has not been saved,
this field is empty. The input field comment is used to add comments to
the selected record. The input field Drive determines, which drive is used
for loading and saving the machine cycle record.
The table lists all available machine cycle records which are located on the
selected drive. The name (Name), the date of creation (Date), the size of
the record (Size) as well as the appropriate comments (Comment) are
shown.
By pushing the Load button, the selected machine cycle record will be
loaded. The button Save is used to overwrite the selected machine cycle
record with the currently used machine cycle data. Save as creates a new
cycle record and saves the currently used machine cycle. Therefore it is
necessary to declare a record name. By pushing the button Delete, the
selected cycle record can be deleted. Rename is used to rename the selected cycle record.
7.2.3
Templates
Templates are groups that have been previously saved, they can be inserted
at an arbitrary position in the cycle. If a template is inserted multiple times the
267
KePlast HMI.KVS
resulting groups are independent from each other and don't share any parameters.

Information
With every machine cycle, each single movements is adjusted to the actual
existing cycle time.
If a new machine cycle is created, the duration of the single movements is
calculated due to the actual parameter settings. When executing the first cycle, the calculated duration of the movements will be adapted to the actual
movement durations. That also applies for changes of parameters, which
have an effect on the duration of a movement (e.g. position, velocity). In this
case, the movement duration is also calculated first and will be adapted to
the actual movement duration after the movement has been exectuted for the
first time.
