STATEMENT OF RELATION SHIP

(FROM THE SPONSOR)
My name is Muhammad Asif, I am submitting this statement of relationship for the above
reference visa application.
I was born on 10 September 1994 in a small village Chak No 218, locally known as
Prokianwala in the vicinity of Faisalabad city. My grandfather and their ancestors had been
living in this village for more than a century. My father had three brothers and three sisters
and he was youngest of them all. Only one of my fathers sisters lived in this village when I
was born, and she was mother of Shagufta Riaz (the visa applicant). In this regard Shagufta
is my cousin; she is daughter of my fathers sister. In this way relationship of me with
Shagufta is dual; first we are related by blood and now she is my wife also.
I still have good memories in my mind that while l was a child six, seven years old, I used to
go to my aunt house and they used to come our house. In this way we used to play
together. We definitely had no idea that we in the future are to marry. Then we moved with
our father to Lahore where he was working as an engineer. In 2003 my father had a
scholarship and he went to Norway alone. So once again we returned to the village and
started to live with our grandfather and uncles. During this period we many time met while
going each others home.
After six months we got visa of Norway and in January 2004 we joined him in Trondheim. In
2005 July we returned back again to Faisalabad. We again met with our relatives including
Shagufta. From 2005 to 2007 December we stayed in the Faisalabad city but we regularly
visited our village relatives including Shagufta.
In December 2007 we migrated to Australia and since then we are living in Australia. In
between in 2010 we had a month visit to Pakistan and we again got a chance to see each
other. In 2014 my parents after almost a four years time, planned to visit Pakistan. During
the same year they talked to me about my future plans and also the marriage. They asked
me about marriage with Shagufta and I said I have no objection to it. So around March 2014
my father spoke to her father. The family was happy including Shagufta and had no
objection. My parents were of the view that I must see her before we do a final decision.
In the end of November 2014 we went to Pakistan. We already had a house under
construction in the village where my mothers parents live; it is only about two kilometer
from my native village. The house completion took enough time of us. During this period we
went many times to Shaguftas house and we had invitation from them along with other
relatives.
Upon completion of the house both families arranged the ceremony of marriage on 19
January 2015. Relatives and friends from both families participated in the marriage

ceremony. The gathering was around 100 people. All the guests were served food. There is
a tradition that relative and friends give some money to bride and groom. I got nearly
20000 Pak Rs as gift and Shagufta got 50000 Pak Rs. Many photographs were taken. A
video film of the ceremony was also made. Sermon of the formal marriage was delivered in
the presence of friends and relatives by the Marriage Registrar of the local council himself
and the signatures were done in the presence of relatives and friends and the Registrar. I
paid Rs.10000 as dowry to the bride which is a part of the Islamic tradition of marriage.
After my return to Australia I have been in regular contact with Shagufta via telephone. We
have been waiting for the day the visa is granted and we start the life about which we talk.
We are committed to live with each other and live for each other. Our relationship is
genuine and continuing. I am attaching the phone call record along with these documents.
