1. TITLE
METHOD STATEMENT FOR Cable Tray Installation
2. Scope of Work
2.1. General Description

This method statement is to outline the sequences and methods of works intended to be used
for the Cable Tray Installation.
This procedure shall be applied to the Inspection, method and criteria for installation work
carried out by the electrical department.

2.2. Tools and equipment

2.3. Materials
Materials used will be as per the material submittal approved by the Royal commission and
routing as well and sizes will be as per the approved drawings.
2.4. Planning and Preparations

Before commencing work a Site Supervisor will be assigned as responsible for the activity
covered by this method statement. A site specific briefing on this method statement, risk
assessment and the emergency procedures will provided to all operatives and a briefing
register will be signed. A copy of the method statement and emergency procedures will be
kept on site in welfare facilities.
Plan of this work to be according to Royal Commission.
All material and Equipment should be checked and stored properly at site.
Safety measures and instruction should be issued to all staff in charge.
All necessary signs, barricades and warning tape will be applied in the field.
Prepare the safe access to the sites for workers and equipments.

2.5. Work Methodology


Installation

Ensure that proper materials are available and are approved for use, as well as the approved
drawings.
Verify site access / routing and mark support locations.
Install / erect proper scaffoldings and ladders where ever required during installation of
supports and cable trays.
Fix the support on the natural structures, by drilling appropriate holes.
Fix the vertical trays channel on the support.
The cable trays shall be installed in such a way that, as often as possible the cables can be
laid directly in place rather than being pulled through.
Clearance shall be maintained / observed during Cable Tray Installation as per specified on
approved drawings and specifications.
Cable Trays & Ladders shall be supported adequately and fix bolt and clamps as per
specifications and drawings.
Sharp edges of cable trays shall be reamed to smooth and paint.
Touch up paint shall be applied to the scratches / damaged surface of cable trays.
Care to be taken to avoid corrosion and rust formation during installation.
Earth continuity conductors shall be provided .
Ensure that cable trays and ladders are erected correctly, inspected by QC and approved by
Royal commission Engineer prior to cable laying.
All cable shall be securely fixed to the tray, work and the complete installation must be
carried out in a neat and workmanlike manner without crossovers
All materials and documentation relevant to the work will be checked by Quality Control
Engineer prior to the commencement of works. Ensure that all materials to be installed are
inspected by QC and accepted by the RC Engineer.

2.6. Organization, Responsibility & Supervision

Construction Manager shall be responsible for the work procedure to ensure that Cable Tray
Installation is carried out as per method statement. He shall ensure works shall be executed
in accordance with RC specification standards section 16055 and strictly imposed the safety
regulation on the site.

The Quality Control Engineer shall be responsible for conducting surveillance and
inspection of work and ensuring all records and test results will be acquired & recorded. He
shall prepare all the documents required for inspection.

The Electrical Field engineer/foreman is responsible to closely supervise the Installation of


Cable Tray.

The Quality Control Engineer and RC Field Engineer shall be responsible to carry out
inspections and release hold point for the preceding works.

3. SAFETY & HEALTH


3.1. Safety Action Plan

Tool box talk shall be conducted and brief safety measures required for the ensuring
days will be discussed.
First Aid facility will be available during the process of work site.
Correct PPE and Safety precautions requirements will be taken for the entire works.
Safety Harness will be used whenever work is carried out on the above grade
elevations.
Proper housekeeping at the end of the day is a part of mandatory task assigned to
workers to avoid accidents due to littered tolls and materials.

3.2. Environmental Safety & Health Contractor Requirements

Al Jazea / EPPM shall maintain safe working conditions at all times. And Conduct
weekly tool box meeting discussing the safe working habit and procedure in case
of emergency.
All hazardous materials found should be reported to RC Safety Department and
dumped in a designated dumping area.

3.4. Contractual Requirements

Maintain safety at all times in the job site.


All workers will be equipped with the required PPE while at site and during the
execution of the works.
Al Jazea / EPPM shall provide Safety Officer to monitor the safety of manpower
and equipment at the job site.
Stop the work when unsafe condition occurs.
Report any near miss or accident at the job site to the RC Safety Department.

3.6. Emergency Procedure

In case of emergency AAD/CR18B ambulance is always available to pickup workers from


the site when something goes wrong to the workers during the work.
Heat shelter will be provided in case workers will experience anxious or heat stress.
When heavy sand storm occur AAD/CR18B Safety Officer shall distribute dust mask to all
workers immediately.
Medical Staff shall be at all times ready to respond any emergency situation on site.

4.1. Safety & Health Contractor Requirement

Al Jazea / EPPM shall maintain safe working conditions at all times.


Al Jazea / EPPM shall follow ES and H policy and procedure during the execution
of the works.
Sufficient portable drinking water will always be available on the site with cups.
All hazardous materials found should be reported to RC and dumped in a designated
dumping area.
Proper housekeeping & waste segregation shall be strictly enforced in the jobsite.

4.2. Contractual requirement

RC Environmental, Safety and Health Policies and Procedure should be strictly


followed.

5. QUALITY ASSURANCE
5.1. Contractual requirements

Al Jazea & EPPM shall comply with RC Specifications Section 01450

5.2. Inspection & Testing

The Al Jazea / EPPM QC Engineer and RC Field Engineer shall witness all quality
control testing requirement of the work done.
Hold points will be carried out as required by the Inspection & Test plan.

5.3. Follow up and Evaluation

The Construction Manager shall always monitor the work activities to check if all
the safety, environmental requirements and work procedure stated in this Method
statement are strictly followed.
Safety Manager/Officer shall always monitor the safe working condition at site
during the execution of this activity.
The Al Jazea / EPPM QC Engineer to monitor the site as the work progresses.
The Site Engineer/Foreman shall monitor all works accomplished per the technical
specification and quality requirements of the project.
