panel, which in turn will be fed from 125V station DC distribution
board.(DCDB)
These DC emergency lights would be provided in all rooms with
a facility for manual switching in each room.
Emergency lighting main supply would be automatically
switched on in the event of normal AC lighting failure.
ii)
Exit Lighting :
Exit Light with self contained sealed lead acid rechargeable
standby batteries suitable for 90 minutes illumination and
charger circuit, connected to a dedicated 127Vac-branch circuit,
shall be provided near all the exit doors.
iii)
Emergency Lighting
This shall be provided by emergency lighting fixtures located
strategically in critical operating area and emergency exits.
These lights shall be ON all the time, normally from the normal
AC supply. In case of failure of normal AC system, these lights
shall be energised from the DC supply obtained from integrated

5.5.1 Conductor size for power receptacles and lighting circuits shall be
selected taking into consideration the voltage drop (as indicated
above), but in no case it shall be less than 4 mm 2 stranded copper.
5.5.2 Wires used for conduit point wiring of lighting fixtures/exhaust fans and
receptacles shall be 1100 V grade, PVC insulated, single core,
stranded copper conductor wires. In general, concealed wiring would
be adopted for Main switchgear building, etc. where RCC structure
exists. For GTG building etc. where steel structures are present,
exposed conduits would be used. Pull boxes would be provided near
light fittings & where conduit drops down to switch box.
5.5.3 All conduit wiring, concealed or exposed wiring shall have provision for
easy inspection. Exposed wiring when run along wall would be as near
the ceiling as possible. Due consideration would be given for neatness
and appearance.
5.5.4 Wires of different phases would be run in separate conduits. However,
wires of same phase but having different circuit nos. can be run in
same conduit. Wires of lighting and 3 phase power receptacles shall
be carried out in separate conduits and on separate circuits.
5.5.5 Wherever lighting system has three phase distribution, separate
conduits would be used for different phases. For easy identification of
phases and neutral wires the following colour wires shall be used.
