OGi bloc dry/OGiV

SEALED LEAD-ACID BAT TERY

Applications
OGi bloc dry and OGiV batteries are used in a great variety of applications:
In UPS units
In telecommunications installations
In signalling and control systems
In safety systems

Product features
Performance
OGi bloc dry 12 V batteries cover a capacity range of 30 - 100 Ah in accordance with
DIN 40741. OGiV 6 V and 4 V batteries cover a capacity range of 18 - 256 Ah according to DIN 40741.
OGi bloc dry and OGiV batteries
are used in switching centres.

Electrodes
The electrodes of the OGi bloc dry and OGiV batteries consist of positive and negative
grid plates, based on a lead-calcium grid alloy.
Separators
Microporous glass mat separators are used to separate the electrodes. The fibre glass
mat forms an effective insulation between the electrodes and prevents the loss of
active material through shedding. Together with the electrodes the absorbent glass mat
binds the electrolyte and enables oxygen to diffuse easily from the positive to the
negative electrode.
Pole bushing
The pole bushings are gas-tight to avoid any electrolyte leakage for the batterys entire
service life.
Cell connectors
The cells are connected by fully insulated copper screw connectors.
Electrolyte
The electrolyte, which is fixed in glass mat separators, ensures the highest reliability
for all applications. The batteries are delivered in a filled and charged state and are
ready for immediate use.

batteries come in 4 V, 6 V and 12 V.

Containers
The battery containers are made of high-strength plastic (PP or ABS). Container and lid
are bonded together to prevent gas and electrolyte escaping.
Storage
Because of its low discharge rate recharging is not necessary until approx. 5 months
storage at 20C.

Recombination principle
With sealed batteries the principle of internal recombination is used:

The graph shows the recommended

lead-acid battery.

The recombination principle reliably reduces water loss and the escape of electrolyte
gases. Should excess gases be produced through overcharging or misuse, these can
escape through a vent.

C 50

With continuous battery power supply and float charge with occasional discharges and
an operating temperature of 20C a service life of 10 to 12 years can be reached. The
OGi bloc dry / OGiV batteries are maintenance-free throughout their entire service life.
An additional feature is their simple assembly. As the batteries are delivered in a filled

In practice continuous voltage charging has become generally accepted for continuous
standby power supply. Using this method of charging the battery can be charged at either 2.25 V/ cell or 2.35 V/cell charging voltage. A complete recharge is also possible

at a voltage of 2.25 V/cell. A charging current limit is not necessary up to a charging

voltage of 2.35 V/cell. The battery room ventilation corresponds to EN 50 272-2/
DIN VDE 0510 part 2.
The absolutely gas-tight construction allows battery operation in both horizontal and
vertical positions.

Advantages
Operation also possible outside special battery rooms
Installation and operation in any position
Compatible with all existing installations (standard dimensions)
Low self-discharge rate
The pole bushing is gas tight to prevent electrolyte leakage or escape of
