UNIT: Melodrama
TASK: 1
WEIGHTING: 30% - Performance = 20% and Logbook = 10%
DATE/TIMING: Week 10 Term 1 2015 Wednesday Period 5 1/4/15
Areas of Learning:
1. Making drama that explores a range of imagined and created situations in a
collaborative drama and theatre environment
2. Performing devised and scripted drama using a variety of performance
techniques, dramatic forms and theatrical conventions to engage an audience
3. Appreciating the meaning and function of drama and theatre in reflecting
the personal, social, cultural, aesthetic and political aspects of the human
experience.
TASK DESCRIPTION:
Performance (30 marks)
The class is to present the script for the Melodrama Performance as a work in progress. It
is expected that you will know the first half of the show without your script and the second
half with the aid of a script if required. You will be marked on your development of character.
Logbook: (20 marks)

Students are required to hand in their Logbook that has their class work for this unit
of work completed, a character analysis (you will receive a handout for this in class)
and a copy of the Melodrama script.

clarity and tension in character, role, situation and action.
Outcome 5.2.1: A student applies acting and performance techniques
expressively and collaboratively to communicate dramatic meaning.

drama, dramatic forms, performance styles, dramatic techniques and theatrical
conventions.
