Dr. Chavdar Buchvarov,
Sv. Marina University Hospital - Varna, Radiology Clinic

Male patient 70 years old.

Diabetes Melitus type II for the past 2 years, under good control.
AV dialytic fistula in the left forearm for the past 14 days.

Diagnostic angiography shows significant occlusion

of the vein 5 cm from the point of the fistula with
16 mm length. Some signs of stenosis in the arterial
part that reverted to normal without a PTA procedure.

Procedure: Dilatation using ELUTAX paclitaxel

eluting balloon 4,0 õ 39 with twice inflation for
20 seconds each. The outcome was excellent,
without any remaining stenosis after dilatation.

Control contrast injections show perfect filling

of the out-flowing venous system.

Control Doppler sonography shows excellent

bloodflow in the dilatation zone with a maximum
systolic speed of 221 cm/sec.

The speed in the incoming arterial segment is 70 cm/sec.
