4.1

Material Handled
It is the treated material to be transported. If there are multiple
materials, their analytical method is needed. Each the
component of raw materials is expressed as %WT or % VOL If
the space is not enough, mark the Remark No. at the blank and
describe at the below remarks space.

4.2

Density (Bulk/Real)
For transportation of raw material, generally bulk density is
needed. And because real density is not usually used, only bulk
density is noted. But if raw material is powder, real density must
be marked. In case of mixed material, average bulk density is
marked as AVG if possible. If average density is unknown, both
min. and max. densities must be marked.

4.3

Particle Size
In case of the transportation, particle size is mainly marked as
MM. If it is powder, Taylor mesh or micron is used instead of MM.
If the particle distribution is uneven, it is noted as %WT or
%VOL. In that case, remarks no is noted and it is noted below
remark space in detail.

4.4

Lump Size Max.

For bucket elevator sometimes lump raw material is transported,
the size of lump and the maximum size of it are noted.

4.5

moisture as weight %. It is nearly not happen that material itself

has moisture, the percent of moisture contents expressed as
max value like 1 % weight below.
4.6

Feed Temperature
It is the temperature when raw material is fed into elevator, If not,
treat in the prior process, ambient temp. is noted.

4.7

Operating Type
Operating type is composed of continuous or intermittent and
auto start/stop or manual start/stop as showed on the data
sheet. If the special operating type, it is noted on the remark
space. Whether start/stop type is automatic or manual, it is
necessary to confirm the supply of start/stop push button box.
For all equipments at the start of project, it is necessary that the
determination between form each vendor and from instrument
engineering team. If automatic, it is necessary to confirm the
needs of remote switch on the local push button box. If
continuous on-off operation, it is noted in the remarks space.
(For example, on-Off cycle time: 3min.)

4.8

Operating Time
It is expressed as operating cycle, means the operating time per
day. It is related with the plant operating time of client. If 2-shift, it
is 16Hr/day. If 3-shift, it is 24Hr/day.

4.9

Capacity
It is the ability of transportation. The capacity is described as

equipment detail design and motor power calculation to vender.

So, except for case of process needed design capacity or case
that added capacity margin in the request of client, 10% margin
of the normal capacity should generally be added.
4.10

Method of Loading
As a method of feeding raw material to the elevator, it is good to
describe the method related with the prior equipment on the
layout. Also, feeding type should be clarified among continuous,
dump, and batch. Mainly bucket elevator is continuous because
of feeding by chute.

4.11

Material Properties
It means the chemical and physical properties of the transported
material as an engineering view. It is good to select the related
property on the data sheet. If there is need to express the power
of property, select it and it is reasonable to mark the high or
severe at the blank. If multiple properties are given, select and
mark multiple options. If no listed properties, select other option,
and describe it.

4.12

Installation
It means the construction location of equipments on the lay out,
either indoor or outdoor. If extra condition like under roof, make a
note.

Type
The type of bucket elevator is expressed on the data sheet, so
just select the multiple options.
(1)

Vertical and Inclined

It means that whether elevator is vertical or inclined from
floor, inclined type is expressed with degree.

(2)

Centrifugal and Continuous

It means how to discharge the raw materials.
According to the method, the attachment method of
bucket is fixed.

(3)

5.2

Self-supported and Supported

It means whether an elevator body is supported or not.

Bucket Type, Pitch, Speed and Size

Bucket has various types according to the kinds and properties
of raw material. It is chosen by vendor. (Refer to link-belt
catalog) Also pitch, speed and size are decided according to
bucket capacity.

5.3

Bucket Efficiency
The efficiency is the process requirement. Generally 75% is
applicable.

5.4

Bucket Attachment
It means where buckets are attached. Select between belt and
chain on the data sheet.

Elevator Arrangement
The purpose of an elevator is the vertical transportation; the
elevator arrangement is enough to the vertical elevation; The
length the distance between shaft (pulley) center lines or
between feed and discharge. Overall height is determined by
vendor.

5.6

Pulley
If necessary, the type is specified. (Refer to link-belt catalog)

5.7

Bearing
The bearing is based on vendor standard, and lubrication is
determined by vendor's recommendation.

5.8

Chain Type, Pitch and Attachment

They are determined by vendor's standards.

5.9

Belt
Because it should refer to belt conveyor, it is omitted here.
If possible, Ply and splice type are specified.

5.10

MATERIALS
It is general that the materials are fixed according to the properties of
the raw material and the operating purpose. The material contacted with
raw material on process should be specified. At least, bucket and casing
materials are fixed; the others are fixed by vendor. The selection of the
materials is fixed by referring the material properties on operating
condition. When the bucket material is erosive material, hard surface
bucket or casting is used

DRIVER
If normal, supplied-by/mounted-by is fixed by vendor.
Because the things with drivers are fixed by other detail associating
teams, the driver needs not to be fixed by process engineering team. So
no needs, no marks.
7.1
