There are some services though that does not need a GPRS
connection to generate a location map. This is applicable for smart
phones or PDAs that have built in utility for GPS or the Global
Positioning System. These devices have GIS capability and can be used
for instant location tracking. Most high-end smart phones have this
capability, which is very useful especially for the highly mobile users.
The ability of the phone to synchronize with the GPS will give users a
real time satellite based triangulation of their position as well as the
location of their requested tracking.
There are applications that can be installed on mobile phones in
order to activate the GPRS or GPS mapping services. Some applications
are provided by mapping service networks and a license would be
needed to activate it. Upgrades would be free but there are some that
require customers to purchase updates for their GPRS maps.

UTILITY OF GPRS-ENABLED
MOBILE DEVICES
Users can use different GPRS software that can enhance and
improve the functions of their GPRS connections as well as their
mobile devices. Applications for GPRS related utilities include data
monitors and calculators to SMS framework servers and scripting
packages for multimedia message and other heavy data types. The most
commonly used applications also include a speed optimizer for GPRS
connections.
GPRS software for network traffic calculations are utilized to
keep an accurate record of GPRS usage. Because GPRS connectivity is
billed based on the amount of data sent over the network, the traffic
calculator can show the actual amount that has been used by users on a
daily basis. The software also comes with a matrix of rates that are
being charged by different service providers for GPRS usage. Users
therefore can effectively manage their consumption and regulate usage
in order to control their phone bills.
U N D E R S TA N D I N G G P R S S P E E D :
HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS
So, with full 4 data slots for GPRS, users can ideally get 53 to 54
kbps of throughput rate. However, as GPRS is used heavily during the
day, bandwidth allocation could only reach 1 data slot. So, a user can
have a maximum GPRS speed of 32 kbps on a typical work day.
GPRS speed is similar to dial up Internet connection. It could
be slower on very heavy traffic network connections. However, users
can still get the benefit of an always on connection whenever or
wherever they are. They can easily send and receive emails and other
data even when they are on remote locations.

The GPRS tariff is essentially the charges that users need to pay
for using the services of GPRS networks. Most tariffs are bundled
packages, which mean users can take advantage of several good offers
of network service providers. Basically the tariff structure for GPRS
services consists of activation charges, monthly rental, and usage fees.
There are bundled free extras that are included in these charges, which
serve as promotion of network service providers.
However, there are good GPRS tariff package that can found
which offer usage only charges. This means that users can browse the
Web or stay connected on the Internet for as long as they want and still
pay zero charges. The network will only charge users if they start
downloading from the site. Users will also have to pay the networks if
they transmit data using GPRS.

GPRS wiki logs and wiki pages are useful resources that can be
accessed freely on the Internet. Wiki pages are created using open
source programming and can be edited, updated and modified by
anyone that have access to it. In essence, it can serve as a modern
electronic board that can provide valuable information. Companies that
are providing GPRS services are also using wiki technology to
disseminate information about their network and services. These
resources are readily available on the Internet and can be read by
anyone with a vested interest in GPRS.

GPRS
Even though times are indeed quite hard, one still cannot deny
the fact that technology is advancing at a very fast pace and one must
keep up with it in order to survive. Thank heavens for the invention of a
PAYG GPRS service. This pay as you go service has been the rage for
the past couple of years ever since Orange, one of the UKs leading
mobile communications telecom giants, announced the prepaid GPRS
service five years ago.
When it was first launched, the GPRS system was readily
available to seven specific units all coming from name droppable such
as Motorola, Philips, Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Sagem. For a person to
be able to activate the pay as you go GPRS service on his hand phone,
he must be able to choose the PAYG option, which can be found on the
WAP menu. There is also another way of doing this by having the
customers get more information through useful visits to the company
Website or they can also choose to call customer service to have
someone assist them.
PAYG GPRS has some charges that are very easy on the budget.
The usual charges for customers enrolled in the PAYG service would be
4 for each megabyte, and each customer only needing to pay for the
information, which they actually view instead of the time that the user
stays connected on line. The wonderful thing about the PAYG GPRS
service is that as a customer, you have the utmost freedom to be able to
efficiently and effectively manage the way you use and view data as per
the amount of credits they have for such a service.
Second, you will really appreciate the mobility factor. Since you
can do the download procedure via GPRS on your phone and your
phone is always with you practically like an extra appendage, you will
be able to get what you want, when you want it. No more waiting to get
home and download on your computer, or craning your neck left and
right to check if there is an Internet shop nearby.
Everything you need for the best in portable gaming would be in
your PSP and your phone that is GPRS-enabled! Aside from that, you
can also use the GPRS-enabled mobile phone to do a number of
transactions for different purposes, as well as download not just games
for your PSP but also important and useful tools and application
software.
For one thing, the ability to stay connected all the time does
very well in an emergency. For example you are stuck in traffic and
your boss suddenly rings you to tell you that he has sent a revised copy
of the document, which you are supposed to present in merely a few
hours. With GPRS, no traffic can prevent you from accessing your
documents at once.
Imagine being stuck in a small town with virtually no
connectivity options absolutely essential for a young man to get in
touch with friends and family. Accessing mails via GPRS on the mobile
phone ensures that he gets to be updated with all the important news
about the people he cares about. Or perhaps you need to access the
Internet for whatever purpose, and you find yourself in a foreign land
with no idea where and how to ask for directions to an Internet shop.
No problem here, as you simply have to whip out your phone and with
one press of a button, you will be connected in an instant.
In this day and age, communication has taken a move from the
backseat to the biggest burner on the stove. This is because many
people have realized that the power of staying connected is a lot more
powerful than it initially seemed to be. As such, a lot of things that are
related to technology have changed and adapted in order to make
communication a lot easier especially when it comes to mobile
communication.
Take a look around and you will notice that a lot of people have
bigger-than-usual phones with them phones that are actually like
mini computers that fit in the palm of ones hand. These gizmos are
what you call smart phones. Just like the first term in the compound
word, smart phones are indeed a whole lot more intelligent compared
to ordinary mobile phones.
If you are a mobile phone user and you find yourself with the
need to stay connected to the Internet (aside from doing other
important, technology-related tasks, that is), then the best choice of
handsets for you would be the ones that are offered by mobile phone
giant Sony Ericsson.
Sony Ericsson has been around for quite some time, and over
the last two decades has always been a market leader in terms of
innovation. With the introduction of general packet radio service this
decade, Sony Ericsson jumped the gun by being able to come up with a
mobile phone that does not just allow you to stay connected, but also to
do a lot of other things on your mobile phone in the same way that you
would on your computer.

Furthermore, you can also export your data to the CSV in order
to be able to use it with Microsoft programs such as Microsoft Excel
and Microsoft Access. There are over three hundred plus pre-defined
plans which the SPB GPRS monitor is capable of formatting, so
whatever your provider and whatever your plan is you can be sure that
SPB GPRS monitor can work well with it.

GPRS FIRST
Yes, without availing of the service itself, you may as well have a
wonderful gadget with all the bells and whistles (including those you
can't even ring!).When you subscribe to GPRS, you have the option to
choose from two different kinds of plans: post paid service plan or pre
paid service plan. In the former, you will choose a plan which is
determined by your budget and how much you are willing to be
charged for the service, as well as what kind of a ceiling you should
have if you need to go overboard the predetermined rate. In the latter,
you will only access the Internet whenever you want to and for how
long of a time you deem.

It even has a remote control so you do not have to lean over and
fiddle with the buttons on the actual device itself. And if you want to
save the routes you have designed, you can also transfer this
information to your computer using a universal serial bus compatible
device or via Bluetooth. Of course, if you want to avail of such a service
you will have to enroll it and you need to pay the subscription fee. The
Tomtom Plus service works by connecting to GPRS and so you will also
need a device that has such a capability so make sure you also have
one of those as well.

Are you a fan of smart phones and mobile devices that help you
stay connected almost all the time? Remember that as fun it is to stay
connected and access the Internet whenever you wish, it can also be
quite costly especially if you are overseas where the rates may be
different and most of the time can be a wee bit higher. So it always pays
to be aware of your data usage when accessing the Internet via GPRS in
order not to rack up really astronomical data charges that might leave
you a couple thousand dollars poorer even if you have a pay as you go
plan. So you need to save money by turning off your GPRS device.
To work with this service wisely, remember to only turn it on
when you need it especially when it comes to accessing information
using its other features such as automatic email checking. This feature
should really be disabled when you feel you are at a particular time
when there really is no email worth waiting for or require your
immediate attention. This is a good way to limit your GPRS data
transfers.
Of course, you already know that it is quite easy to use any type
of POP3 service protocol or mail server in order for you to send and
receive your mail, even if you connect the Internet in different ways.
However, be informed of the fact that you can only utilize the SMTP
server that is provided by the Internet service provider you are
currently connected to in order to be able to send your mail to other
people. As it turns out, there are other mail servers that demonstrate
support for any type of authenticated SMTP services and you are also
very welcome to use such however, do make it a point to ensure that
you do get it to work properly before you attempt to send mail.

The great thing about technology is the fact that you can create
various connections where initially there were none. In the likes of
general packet radio service or GPRS, there is now a way to incorporate
the universal serial bus or USB connectivity option to it by way of the
USB GPRS modem. When you use a USB GPRS modem, you are
utilizing a what you can call terminal-like interface of the USB 2.0
version or the ones that came later, as well as different data formats
and both external antennas and RFC 1144. These modems can also be
added in the card if you are using a laptop or via an external USB
device, similar to a mouse in shape and the size.
This USB GPRS modem may also serve the bearer of short
messaging system, otherwise known as text messaging. If the short
message is sent via general packet radio service, there will be a
transmission speed of SMS of roughly thirty SMS messages every
minute that one can actually achieve. This is definitely a lot faster
compared to using ordinary short messaging which is sent over GMS
system that only has a very low SMS transmission speed of around six
or maybe ten messages each minute. The USB GPRS also has transfer
speeds that will depend on the different channels that are used for
encoding. There is also a quite robust one, which is also fast, that runs
on a coding scheme of CS-4 and is quite near a BTS or a base
transceiver system
There are many things out on the market with a USB port,
which comes as no surprise as to the fact that the GPRS modem also
has one. Now, your personal mobile phone will act as the modem and
you can surf to your hearts (or your budgets) content with the ease of
your laptop computer. There are of course, different transfer speeds for
the channel-dependent encoding system, and such will also be affected
by the type of mobile phone carrier you have and the plan you wish to
avail. Usually, the ones with faster kbps speed are those that belong to
the most expensive plans, but for budget users you also have pretty
impressive data transfer speeds if you are a bit financially constrained.
Perhaps the great thing about this is once you need to download
something off the Internet, you can already work in it on your laptop to
save time.

For those who are not in the know, GPRS or general packet
radio service has been around for quite some time. This is a highly
utilized Mobile Data Service that is packet oriented and is also available
to those who have GSM (or global system for mobile communications)
phones as well as IS-136 mobile phones. Using GPRS provides you with
pretty neat Internet service as you can get really good data rates
starting from fifty six all the way up to one hundred and fourteen
kilobytes per second. This general packet radio service may also be
used with other services like WAP (or wireless application protocol),
SMS (or Short Message Service), the ever popular MMS (or Multimedia
Messaging Service) and other types Internet tools such as email
accessing and surfing the World Wide Web.

Whats even better is that PDA phones are now widely available.
A phone that is also PDA GPRS capable would certainly allow a person
to use the phone while enjoying other features as well. And while the
GSM technology allows certain features, a phone/ PDA GPRS enabled
devices are able to perform digital data services faster. Its also less
expensive to avail of such service. Unlike the previous technologies
which charged by the minute, GPRS charges by kilobyte per second of
data transmission.
So what GPRS really brings is the mobility of communication
and multimedia services. It has also able to enhance the previous
technologies used to deliver such services at a lower price. Cell phones
now have more capabilities and PDA GPRS capable devices certainly
have more to offer now.

WHENEVER
With the fast and mobile way of living today, having everything
while on the road seems to be the demand. Communication and data
access is very important to everyone as well. While it was enough for
everyone to have just ordinary cell phones for voice calls and perhaps
short messaging services, the story today will tell a different tale. What
everybody needs and demands today is being able to reach people and
being reached by the people who needs his input not just through voice
but through data services as well. The need for data solutions is very
apparent like when an executive would need to send information to his
office or to his superiors while being on a remote location.
GPRS is a solution for such a need. Through this technology,
data transmission is allowed and its faster and more efficient than
previous technologies. Internet access and email communication can
be done. Multimedia messaging is also enhanced.
With the demand for a more mobile and an Internet way of life,
technologies such as that GPRS have been the answer. GPRS, with its
capability to allow cellular phone carriers to offer more data driven
services, has been adapted and combined with GSM capabilities of
these carriers. While GSM is no doubt a very capable solution for voice
communication, GPRS offers a faster and better way of transmitting
data. It enables a better SMS and MMS. Internet browsing and email
communication is very much possible too.
With the trend going for GPRS technology, the demand for
GPRS phones has also risen. Cellular phone subscribers would now
need not just GSM phones but GPRS phones in order to be able to take
advantage of the additional services now available for them. With a
GPRS phone, all one has to do is have its GPRS activated by his carrier
and get the right settings on the phone. Then he will be able to enjoy
what his phone is capable of.
For this Samsung has come out with its own offering. With the
release of Samsung GPRS phones in the market, it now joined the list
of phone manufacturers that deliver the phones that people need today.
With a Samsung GPRS phone, one would definitely be able to do just
about anything while being on the go. He can engage in electronic
shopping, payment and banking. He can send and receive emails quite
easily and quickly. Database access and multimedia messaging is also
allowed. Because of this, Samsung GPRS phones will certainly make
ones life more mobile and efficient as well.
It
allows you to experience the speed rate of data receive and transfer
similar to high-speed Internet. The 3G phones running on GSM and
GPRS are beneficial for both consumers and network operators.
Consumers who travel a lot can avail of roaming services and switch
service carriers without replacing their phones. Since GPRS runs on
GSM, these 3G phones use a SIM card. Network operators find it also
beneficial, as they are able to choose equipment from any of those
vendors implementing a GSM.
If you are to get a 3G phone that is GPRS enabled, any
information sent and receive will be charged to you on a per kilobyte. A
kilobyte is equivalent to 1,024 bytes. Each character is considered as
one byte, example the word GPRS is 4 bytes. So you could just imagine
how less costly it is to send.
Get connected to people special to you, anywhere and at
anytime. The 3G GPRS cell phone makes it happen for you.

using the Internet is not billed. GRPS is charged base on
amount of data transfer to and from your mobile phone while
GSM is charged based on your total duration of your
connection;
4. With GSM, the resources are committed during connectivity
while in GPRS resources do not claim commitment although
connected until data transfer is made. This allows network to

5. GSM uses circuit switched that provides a fixed bandwidth
channel dedicated to customer while GPRS uses the packet
switched that provides a dynamic bandwidth allocation method
wherein one or more channels are dedicated for shared use; and
6. The standard rate speed of a GSM is 22.8 kbps while the GPRS
has a speed rate of 56 kbps to 114 kbps.

CONNECTIVITY
Once you have turn the GPRS on, you are immediately
connected to the Internet. You stay connected or remain online all the
time whether you are using your Internet or not. Network carriers
charged GPRS data transfer per megabyte of traffic transferred.
Inasmuch as GPRS is a packet switched connection, users are charged
only when the bandwidth is used and actual data is transmitted Some
mobile networks offer a usage limit for a flat fee and some buy minutes
of airtime also known as a pay as you go card.
Get hold of the data you need through GPRS connection and
remain always on top of the situation.
If you are using your GPRS enabled handset, you can connect
with your laptop using any of the following device:
1. A Data Cable to connect laptop and your handset;
2. Infra Red you will need to align the infrared port of your
handset with the infrared port of your laptop; and / or
3. Bluetooth a device used to connect to Laptops via USB, PCcards or CF-cards. Bluetooth is difficult to set up but once
configured it is considered as the most preferred solution.
Bluetooth devices are very low powered that they do not drain
your computer battery or phone battery too much.
Get your laptop connected with your GPRS enabled handsets
and access your emails and surf the Internet while on business trip or
on vacation. You may want to check from your network providers as to
the rates charged for these data transfers.

YOUR
GPRS PHONE
GPRS
is
designed
for
transferring
non-voice
data
Many mobile phones are GPRS enabled and some can acquire
GPRS service by plugging into their mobile phone CF or PCMCIA slot a
GPRS card. The GPRS service allows you to stay connected to your
mobile Internet and still receive voice calls. With the use of GPRS, your
phone is charged only when there is actual data sent or data transfer to
and from your mobile phone.
You only need your mobile phone to be GPRS enabled to make
it work and remain online all you want at lesser cost.
GPRS is the protocol that allows data transfers over the mobile
phone network. It offers an always on type of data connection to GSM
mobile phones.
GPRS replaced the dial-up access for mobile phones, which
pilots to faster browsing and access to online services. However, GPRS
does not connect by using the phone number, rather it uses the Access
Point Node or APN. Because of this, the user does not have to pay for
the duration of his online connection but for the cost of data.
GPRS is capable of transmitting data to the mobile phones at a
high speed. This technology also allows easy and fast access to Wireless
Application Protocol or WAP sites. WAP is another mobile technology
that allows phone access to Internet sites. WAP sites are sites in the
Internet designed to fit the dimensions of the texts and graphics to the
screens of mobile phones. The combination of WAP and GPRS provides
the convenience of easy access to weather, sports, news, and
entertainment right on the mobile phones.
To enable the WAP GPRS, the user must contact the mobile
service provider and request for GPRS activation. The service provider
will ask for the mobile phone model. Then the user will receive some
settings that he will need to save to his mobile phone. The network is
responsible for assigning the IP address to the mobile devices. The user
will need to wait for 24 hours in order to use the GPRS services. It must
be noted that the mobile phone should be compatible with GPRS to
activate connection through the mobile.
The GPRS APN also known as access point name is basically the
name of GPRS access point. GPRS is a personal network of data, which
is on at all times. Essentially, GPRS uses the GSM network to send and
receive TCP or IP based information from and to GPRS mobiles units.
Now, GPRS APN supplies a gateway path to other networks like the
Internet, private company networks, or WAP services. Firewalls
normally occupies at the APN as well to separate the private from the
public networks.
GPRS APN simply determines the outside network that is
available from a terminal. This significantly includes a number of
attributes related with it, attributes that describe how one can access
the network outside at that point. These days, GPRS APN is employable
to mobile and SIM Card.

The GPRS access point can basically mean three things. First,
this refers to an Internet network device wherein a mobile phone can
be connected. Second, this includes a set of settings employed for the
connection. Third, this is an accurate option in a mobile phones set of
settings. With this case, one may use his phone as a modem for GPRS
to acquire wireless Internet Access. To do this, one must get an
equivalent Access Point Address. The access point address is normally
arranged in the format of Uniform Resource Locator (URL). In many
cases though, these settings are pre-installed or if not these be obtained
from the cellular network operator.
However, the users should note that some of the offered
program does not include any fixed GPRS modem drivers. Some
program does not also provide functionality on Internet access. Here,
one can simply use the default system browser including the drivers
given by the manufacturer of the phone.

But truth is this can offer higher speeds. This is the reason why
US TDMA operators have shown interest on it. Nokia said the packet
data user rates goes more than 473kbps. Good thing, this inaccuracy
brings an advantage to EDGE. The fact is EDGE is capable to roll out to
120kbps.
The Head of GPRS Business Programme of Nokia, Petri
Poyhonen emphasized the responsibility of the press to deliver the
right information to all the users. This way, these users will be spared
from having a wrong impression on GPRS. This is the reason why
Nokia was strict to go through its Web site and allot a time to revise all
the reckless large numbers included on it.

The General Packet Radio Service or GPRS is among the hopedfor current technologies that provides a mobile device with Internet
capability. GPRS can be simply interpreted as Internet on hand. And
it is apparently one of the most innovative and exciting mobile phone
features that everyone wants to get activated to his/her mobile phone.
Specifically, the GPRS feature of a mobile unit offers a fast and
immediate connection to the Internet. It is always on and enables
anyone to browse through various Web sites in the same way when
browsing or surfing through a regular PC. Mobile phones with GPRS do
not need any dial-up or modem to establish Internet connection. GPRS
enables an individual even to perform the usual sign and sign-out
tasks, and posting comments on blogs and photos post, among others.

Following are six essential steps that can be carried out when
having problems connecting to the GPRS network service. These are:
1. Confirm GPRS subscription;
2. Contact an Internet Services Provider to enable a momentary
use of a CSD (dial-up connection) when network/s found in the
area do not have GPRS capabilities;
3. Confirm entry of username and password in connecting to the
GPRS network;
4. Verify whether network preferences are correctly set, otherwise
contact a mobile service provider to set properly the account;
5. Disable any wireless mode that was on to allow the mobile
phone to refresh and connect to the GPRS network; and
6. Speak to the respective mobile service provider if none of the
previous steps worked.
Keeping these helpful steps in mind always would ensure users
of GPRS-enabled mobile phone to a continued GPRS connectivity,
regardless of when and where they may be located.

Through the years, a lot of names have been tagged with mobile
phones. Others simply prefer calling it mobile, wireless or cell, while
some used to name it as hand phone, cell phone or cellular phone.
Whatever name is attached to this state-of-the-art electronic device,
there is no doubt that mobile phones are considered to be the most
widely used technology in the planet today. As of November of 2007,
there are already 3.3 billion phone subscribers all over the world (or
almost half of the human population). This is enough proof that mobile
phone technology has established its importance to peoples day-to-day
living.
What first comes into your mind when you hear the word
orange? Orange may be known to many as a secondary color formed
when red is combined with yellow. Others may also refer to it as a
citrus fruit rich in Vitamin C. But in France, the word orange was
given a new meaning through France Telecoms mobile network
operator and Internet service provider, simply known as Orange. It is
considered as a unique commercial faade when France Telecom
services are being talked about.
Orange has crossed the borders of France and as of December
of 2007, two-thirds of the 170 million France Telecom subscribers in
five continents are Orange customers. This was made possible through
several franchises and partnerships with different mobile phone and
Internet service providers around the globe. One of the service
offerings of Orange Mobile is General Packet Radio Service or GPRS.

YOUR MOBILE PHONE
Who would have thought that mobile phones can now be used
to access the Internet? From a typical device that allows people to
communicate with each other through voice signals, proponents of
mobile phones have definitely adjusted to the changing world,
introducing technologies that make life a lot easier for people who are
always on the go. Newly released mobile phones in the market even
have the capability of receiving television frequencies, making it
possible for people to watch their favorite TV shows while away from
home. These are just some of the reasons why more and more people
purchase mobile phones and subscribe to a carrier that fits their needs.
Configuring the phones General Packet Radio Service or GPRS
settings will result to a users ability to access Web pages on an
Internet-enabled phone. Connecting to GPRS is even better than using
the old-fashioned dial-up on the computer. GPRS transmits data in
short bursts, which means that it can send and receive data at much
higher speeds of up to 171.2 kbps.
People always say that there are always two sides of the coin.
One would be the positive side and the other one would be the negative
side. Some always look at the brighter perspective, which is good
because people tend to take advantage of everything that they can use
to make life a lot easier than the usual. But then again, not all are
pleased as they keep on innovating things and strive to get the best out
of something. The same thing goes with technology. A lot of new and
exciting advancements were introduced these past years but not all
people buy it. One of which is General Packet Radio Service or GPRS.
Come to think of it, the purpose of GPRS is very simple, which
is to make it possible for people to stay connected on the Internet while
away from home or work PC. Others see this as something that is very
beneficial, while some look at it as more of an opportunity since GPRS
also has its fair share of limitations.
First and foremost, GPRS is not for free. Monthly contract costs
vary between providers and countries. Though GPRS is usually charged
on the amount of data transmitted and received other than usage, it is
not advisable to use it when working on large file downloads. It is also
prioritized lower than speech, leaving the quality of connection at stake
when voice traffic is high. In addition, GPRS connection speed usually
drops logarithmically when location is getting far from the nearest
GSM tower.
For these reasons, GPRS may only work as an alternative to a
primary desktop Internet connection. Should you wish to disable GPRS
on your mobile phone, refer to the phones User Manual or better yet
contact your phone carrier for more detailed instructions.
INTERNET
There are a few ways on how a user can connect to the Internet
using a Web-enabled mobile phone or handheld device. If GPRS
settings are properly set up on your device, you will surely get an
always on connection. This means that you can access the Web and
other Internet applications anytime you want. You can also buy a
PCMCIA card that can be used as a GPRS enabled modem. Once
inserted, you can manually set up a dial up connection and access
available Internet services for as long as the needed ports are not
blocked. Finally, a mobile phone can also be used as a GPRS modem,
making it easier for you to connect to the Internet using a laptop or
desktop computer. The connection between the GPRS modem and the
terminal itself can be via infrared, Bluetooth or a serial cable.
There are three types of GPRS modems that you can use A, B,
and C. Class A is the new generation of handsets that allow users to
simultaneously talk on the phone while data is being transferred or
received. Class B handsets can be used as a traditional phone and a
GPRS modem. Most mobile phones nowadays belong to this type
wherein users can send and receive data and talk in turn. Finally, Class
C types can only be used as GPRS modems, which mean that these are
made for data transmission only and are not designed for talking.
These are usually called PC-GPRS cards for notebooks.
GPRS cards are usually cheaper compared to other devices.
However, there is a need to configure it first according to the
manufacture and provider settings to effectively use its GPRS
functionality.

CONNECTED WHENEVER,
WHEREVER
To connect to the Internet, just place your SIM in the data card,
load the software then insert the data card into the laptop. Using GPRS
data cards can definitely increase connection speeds of up to 7 times
faster, specifically when you are within a 3G coverage area. The
inserted SIM should be 3G ready to take advantage of the fast
connection speed. If ever you are outside 3G limits, it will automatically
operate at GPRS speeds.
This type of connection is more appropriate for people who are
always on the go. You can still check important emails while traveling
and complete unfinished work even outside the office. Using a GPRS
data card is a must for all professionals out there. For more
information, visit your local phone service provider today.
