INTRODUCTION
This report gives information on topic about finishing of MCB boards. A MCB has three
parts
1. Inner part
2. Outer part
3. Box
In this report we will study about the finishing of parts. After performing manufacturing
operations like cutting, bending, blanking the manufactured part is ready for subsequent post
processing operations like finishing, painting and fitting and packaging. The finishing plant is
located in Shahdara, Delhi. The finishing of parts is done manually.
Here the aim of the work is to study about the processes occurring in the finishing unit, time
consumed in their finishing, the chemicals required for washing the material etc.
The work presented in this report will give us a picture of finishing unit of the industry and
will highlight the problems which have a serious impact on the production.
After it is washed in water. Water is a very powerful polar solvent and disperse different
types of dirt.
After washing in water it is then washed in sodium bicarbonate. It is used for removing paint
and corrosion from the parts. Below is picture of sodium bicarbonate drum.
After washing in sodium bicarbonate solution it is then washed in water to remove the dirt.
Above is the picture showing a boy using painting machine for panting the boards. PENTEK
is the manufacturer of these machines.
After painting these boards are hanged in a closet made of metals. Below is figure showing
this
This closet can contain 130-150 parts. The closet contains wheels which is used in its
movement. When the closet is full then it is moved in a huge oven to dry up the paint. The
closet is moved in oven and then oven is closed. Initially the temperature of oven is 120-125
degree, the oven is closed and the temperature starts rising slowly. When the temperature is
reached to 170-175 degree then the internal fan of oven is regulated due to which the
temperature inside the oven becomes uniform and fell to 140-145 degree of uniform
temperature. After which it again rises and reached 170 degree. At this stage the oven is
switched off and the finished product is taken out from the oven.
After drying of paints the inner part, outer part and the box are fitted with each other to
produce the desired MCB box. Fitting is mainly done manually, no machines are used due to
which it is time consuming. Below is man fitting the boxes.
After all the fitting operations the boxes are ready to use for the customers. The boxes are
packed in small cartons and are ready to go in market. The boxes bear the company name
Alto.
CONCLUSIONS
In this section we have learnt about the finishing of MCB board. We have learnt about the
various processes that are required in finishing of MCB board. In the upcoming reports we
would learn and study about the other parts of MCB boards such as MCB box and the factors
which govern the production, quality of the industry.
