Know
Before Choosing a Synthetic
Grass Installer.
ith our valleys continued drought,

the rising cost of water, chemical costs, and maintenance
fees, installing synthetic grass has become a
no-brainer for many home and business owners.Originally, synthetic grass was not only
unattractive,it was expensive, often costing
over $15.00 per square foot installed.Fortunately, prices have decreased and the quality
has increased in recent years.But before you
start tearing out your lawn, there are a few
things you should know to ask.

There are four basics to ensure that
you get a quality synthetic lawn installation:
high quality grass, proper base preparation,
seam quality, and proper infill protection.If
an installer quotes you under $6.00 per square
foot, you can bet that corners are being cut
somewhere and you will be the one paying the
price.

The first and most important key
is understanding not all synthetic grasses are
created equal.There are many grass manufacturers from around the world that still produce
with low-quality material from years past.The

last thing you want is to go with the lowest
priced bidder and end up with green yard
carpet in six months after the cheap grass you
installed mats down.Currently the best brand
on the market is TigerTurf -if you want the
highest quality grass, make sure to verify that
your installer buys from a TigerTurf supplier.

Base preparation consists of tearing
out the old material and backfilling, usually
with decomposed granite.The key here is to
ensure that your install includes a minimum
three inches of compacted material; this way,
your grass will drain properly and you will not

be left with a stinky, moldy mess.

The first thing that will give a synthetic grass job away is poor seaming.Recent
new technologies help hide seams by cutting
the grass in a serpentine shape, which helps
makes the seam nearly invisible.Straight
seams are a thing of the past, often leaving
a visible, parted hair look in your grass.In
general, avoid installers that dont serpentine
cut their seams.

All synthetic grasses need proper
infill on top of the grass.The infill most often
used is 30 mesh silica sand at one to two

pounds per square foot.If your installer says
they are going to use less than one pound, or
even worse, no infill at all, find another installer.For pets and children, an antimicrobial
infill like Durafill is also a good choice.

In life, you get what you pay for synthetic grass is no different.A wise man
once said, The bitterness of poor quality lasts
much longer than the sweetness of a great
price. Have it done right and pay once, or
have it done wrong and pay twice. n

results in a calculated restlessness that makes the home as
intriguing today as it was in its
own day. The 10 rooms are furnished more or less as a Victorian family might have had them
- the kitchen has a pie safe and
the library; a portrait showing
the young Dr. Meux on his way
to join the Confederate Army.
The Meux home was placed on
the National Register of Historic
Places on January 14, 1975.

The Historic Warnors Theatre Needs Your Help!
heres a not so little theatre in the

heart of Downtown Fresno that has
supported the performing arts since
1928. Opening on October 20, 1928, this
theater is the second-to-last theater built by
Mr. Pantages, whose beautiful, ornate theaters
extended from here to Memphis and North
to Vancouver and Ontario, Canada. The last
Pantages theatre was built in Los Angeles and
is quite a historic monument itself. Warnors
was originally built to house vaudeville acts,
there is even a room backstage designed
to accommodate live animals. In 1929 this
Pantages Theater was purchased by Warner
Brothers, and its name changed to Warners
Theatre. Fresno thus became the second West
Coast city to have a Warner Brothers motion
picture theater. The theater was used primarily
for silent movies until talkies came out in
the 1930s We still have the antique organ
to prove it, and it works!

Today, Warnors Center for the
Performing Arts is a 501c3 non-profit, or
Community Benefit Organization (CBO),
and relies mainly on volunteers and private
donations to preserve this historical Fresno
landmark. A whole new generation has fallen
in love with this Historic Icon .

Warnors has watched Fresno change
drastically over the years, and has recently
played a starring role in the revitalization
of the Downtown community in which it
resides. It is a daunting task to maintain this
huge, historic space, and thanks to its many
patrons and supporters, Warnors continues
to provide diverse entertainment that reflects
the melting pot population it serves. As many
of you know, there never seems to be enough
money to keep up with the growing list of upgrades needed to an old facility like this. Our
staff and volunteers are very creative in their
work to accommodate our patrons as much as
possible.
One of the most popular events that Warnors
patrons enjoy and count on
is our Classic Film Series;
which shows on the 3rd
Thursday of every month.
On average, an incredible
600 patrons attend these
films, and the most popular
showings see upwards of
1,100 patrons in our 2,086
seat capacity. These nights
are a great opportunity to
generate revenue for repairs
and upkeep of the theatre
and one of the best ways to
do this is through the sale
of concessions. Of course,
everyones favorite movie
snack, popcorn, is in high
demand.
Alas, Warnors has but one
mid-sized popcorn machine
to feed the hungry masses!

Warnors staff has been on the
lookout for a used, theatre grade popcorn
machine for quite some time, and we believe
that we can get one for just under $2,000. The
Warnors staff and volunteers have worked
tirelessly over the past three years to make the
Classic Film Series a highly recognizable and
well attended event; in a Downtown community that has just begun to recover from an
economic ice age that left it all but empty. As
this community revitalizes, Warnors is poised
to once again be the centerpiece of this urban
hub in the heart of Fresno. As it is, our film
program has grown by leaps and bounds, and
Warnors has managed to keep up with its
growth in all areas but one: the ability to keep
up with the demand for popcorn.

The current machine in use during
these events simply is not large or efficient
enough. The number one goal of staff and
volunteers is to provide patrons with a pleasant and unique experience in the theatrean
experience that is too often marred by a long
wait in the popcorn line. It is very discouraging to our volunteers to be popping as fast as
they can, and still have no chance of keeping
up with the demand. It is also very discouraging to our staff that we arent selling as much
popcorn as we could besince this translates
into more projects that we could fund to keep
the theatre up-to-date and looking nice. By
giving donations to this campaign, you enable
us to keep up with the demand for popcorn,
and thereby creating more revenue to reinvest
in this one-of-a-kind Downtown Fresno
landmark. You can help by donating to our

no time!

Come out and see The Wizard of
Oz on the Warnors BIG screen July 16th, and
see for yourself how much our patrons and
volunteers love these events. Anyone dressed
as an Oz character will get in for free, children
under 12 are free, and all others are only $5.
The doors open at 6:00pm with Valley Animal
Center showcasing some of their adoptable
friends, and an organ concert at 6:30pm. The
film begins at 7:00pm, with an introduction
from our local movie buff Evan Monroe. This
film is back by popular demand, drawing over
1,200 patrons last July; many of those patrons
in costume. Its the most whimsical event
youll attend in Fresno this year. We guarantee it.

Warnors for future generations by volunteering at events, following us on social media
at Warnors Center for the Performing Arts,
and attending our events. You can also help
by sharing this fundraising campaign with
