From the Pastor

No Farewell to Paradise
Saint Michael the guardian of Eden
Saint Joseph now victorious in heaven
Two cities these two saints blessed
Girard and Arma will be deeply missed!

Cradled in the southeast of Kansas endless plains

Threshold to Missouri, bearer of golden grains!
Farmers toiling, cattle grazing, earths fertile womb
A barn to the nation, feeding every generation!

Dark clouds may swirl into twisters scare,

Sirens wail, hearts tremble in fear,
Flash floods warning, or drought and heat,
In paradise, courage and hope will always meet!

Five years ago I came here and asked where am I?

By bishops words, was it Gods will, I didnt know why?
What laid ahead I could only imagine
But after works and prayers, alas this is heaven!

Thank you Lord for bringing me here,

Thank you for all the people here who love so dear!
Bless them and guide them that they may see
That I have to go, your will, I obey!

No farewell to paradise
Where I go is a sacrifice!
Pray that where I go is with loving presence and unity
In Holy Cross Parish, the community!

Once more thank you for all your efforts and support for all that we do in the parish. Thank you
for accepting me and loving me! I heartily apologize if in one way or another I have offended or
emotionally hurt any of you. It is definitely not my intention! Please pray for me as I always pray
for all of you! For those of you who might be interested about my new address and contact

of the Declaration of Independence. This is a good opportunity

to reflect on our nations religious roots. That Declaration is
truly our greatest religious document for it affirms our official
and unwavering belief and faith in God. It states His existence
as a self-evident truth that requires no further discussion or
debate. This nation is truly Gods country! The rights that it
defines are God-given and the actions of its signers are Godinspired.
On this day, our first thoughts go to the freedom obtained by
our forefathers when they overthrew the British who occupied
this land for many years and treated the colonies harshly. We
appreciate that freedom and celebrate it today. But, theres
another freedom that we should be seeking and that is the
freedom FROM SIN. We should live our lives as Jesus
commanded us and not allow the Evil One to control us. While
we rejoice in our freedoms, many among us dont realize that
were being overtaken by the changing moral culture. Its being
done subtly, in small ways over time, such as no prayer in
school, happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas, and now
gay marriage. We must vow not to let this happen to us
individually. We can only be truly free when we follow Christs
commandments. Fr. Roger reminded us not long ago that there
is no unlimited freedom. My freedom ends where yours begins.
It is when we sin that we are no longer free (stealing, adultery,
lying). Once you remove that which keeps you away from God,
your freedom will return. Thats why Confession is so
therapeutic. The devil departs and God can enter in. When we
waiver concerning our religious heritage, just turn to the
Declaration of Independence to read where it proclaims our
natural rights as gifts of God. It reduced government from
Master to Servant for the first time in history and its still in
force for all to read. Now, go out and have a safe 4th weekend!
We want you to still have ten fingers when the weekend comes
to a close!
