Function

Two to six pumps are controlled and monitored by a PLC.

One pump is connected to a frequency inverter and controlled
by the PLC in order to ensure a constant system discharge
pressure, deviations of + 0.4 bar being permissible.
As the demand increases or decreases, the peak load pumps
will be switched on and off automatically.
As soon as the demand increases after one pump has been
switched off, another pump which has not been in operation before is switched on. After the last pump has been switched off
(FI-controlled pump) and the demand increases again, the next
pump in line is switched on and connected to the frequency inverter.
The stand-by pump is also part of the alternating cycle but is
switched on only in case of need.
As a standard, the system is switched on automatically depending on the pressure; the actual pressure is measured by an analog pressure measuring device (pressure transmitter).
The function of this pressure transmitter is monitored (livezero).
As long as the system is in operation, the pumps are switched
on and off depending on the demand (standard setting).
In this way it is ensured that the individual pumps operate only

in line with the actual demand. The use of a speed-controlled

pump reduces wear as well as the pumps switching frequency
in parallel operation.
If a duty pump fails, the next pump will be switched on immediately. There will be a general fault indication which can be reported via volt-free contacts (e. g. to the control station)
If the demand drops towards 0, the system slowly approaches
the switch-off point.
Caution!
To ensure trouble-free operation of the system, there must
always be sufficient water on the inlet side.
As the system offers different connection possibilities, the control unit is provided with one digital and one analog input allowing for the connection of a suitable lack-of-water sensor.
This sensor (pressure control device, float switch, flow control
device etc.; see Accessories) protects the system against dry
running and in the case of insufficient water supply immediately
switches the system off (standard setting).

Manual mode

A manual-0-automatic selector switch is available for each

pump installed.
In manual mode the pumps are connected directly to the
mains, independently of the control unit.
For this mode of operation no pressure control and no
lack-of-water monitoring will be effected.
Caution! Please observe the minimum flow rates!
In the case of closed consumer installations, the pumps
produce the max. pressure acc. to the characteristic curve.

Commissioning

Commissioning in Germany by specialist KSB staff is effected

against extra charge.

Selection example
Requirement
Q = 20 m3/h, pE = 6 bar, pvor = 0
Found solutions to DIN 1988, part 5
1. Hyamat V 6/0408/0
2. Hyamat V 5/0409/0
With any of the two above systems, the
set pressure level can be obtained at
20 m3/h.
They differ as to the possible inlet pressure fluctuations.

6 bar

If the design point is below the nominal

characteristic curve, this pressure difference must be deducted from the max. inlet pressure fluctuation.
The exact pvor value can be read directly
in the table: from the design point you go
straight down to the pvor axis of the
pumps where you will find the exact value.
