CHANDIGARH ADMINISTRATION

In order to recruit the six (tentative) Law Officers in the Law

and Prosecution Department, UT, Chandigarh, applications were
invited and 111 applicants were prima facie found eligible who were
called upon, to appear for the written test which was conducted in
Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector-16, Chandigarh,
on 17.12.2013. Two more candidates were also allowed to sit in the
written test provisionally as the Honble Tribunal vide its interim
order dated 17.12.2013 passed in OA No. 1648/CH/2013 titled Anil
Kumar and Anr. Vs. UT, Chandigarh and Ors. ordered for the same.
Out of the total 113 aforesaid applicants, only 105 candidates
appeared for the test and 8 candidates failed to appear for the said
test. The written test was of 100 marks, and the 105 candidates who
appeared in written test, their Roll Nos are mentioned below.

Since the candidates were to be selected from General, OBC and SC

categories, out of the aforesaid 105 candidates, 18 candidates were initially
called for interview without disclosing their order of merit, to appear before
the Selection Committee and their interview was conducted by the Selection
Committee on 13.1.2014. Three time candidates against the advertised
vacancies were called for interview. The interview was of 20 marks. Due to
inadvertence and bona fide mistake, one candidate bearing Roll No. 223
namely Sh. Sandeep Kumar Puri was not called for interview before the
Selection Committee alongwith other 18 candidates though he secured the
marks at par with the other candidate of General Category who was called
for interview, so the meeting of the Selection Committee was again reconvened on 30.1.2014 and the said Roll No. 223 appeared before the
Selection Committee and gave interview. In total 19 candidates were called
for interview who gave interview before the Selection Committee
constituted for the said purpose.
The total marks secured by these 19 candidates i.e. (marks obtained
in the written test of 100 marks + marks obtained in interview of 20 marks
and total marks out of 120 marks) secured by these candidates are given
below category wise i.e. General, OBC and SC:(i)

The Selection Committee decided to fill up five vacancies and

recommended for the selection and appointment of the following, five
candidates, only in order of their merit as Law Officer, on regular basis, in the
Law and Prosecution Department, UT, Chandigarh, in their respective
categories and the recommendations of the Selection Committee were duly
approved/accepted by Worthy AA to HE the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh
being the Competent Authority on 30.1.2014. The following five candidates

As regards the waiting list, no waiting list was prepared under the
OBC category, as no candidate was found suitable for in keeping his/her
name in the waiting list pertaining to OBC category. Under the SC category,
one candidate bearing Roll No. 247 namely Sh. Harpal Singh has been kept
under the waiting list and under the General category, two candidates
bearing Roll No. 275 namely Sh. Sahil Singla, and Roll No. 211 Sh. Vishal
Tiwari were kept under the waiting list. The waiting list will subsist for the
period of 3 months only from the date when the result is disclosed or
published.
